Arrested subject for land fraud in Phu Quoc, appropriating more than 23 billion VND

On September 4, the Investigation Police Agency - Kien Giang Provincial Police announced that the unit had just coordinated with the same-level Procuracy to issue a decision to prosecute the case, prosecute the accused, and temporarily detain Nguyen Van Tua (44 years old, residing in Vinh Quang ward, Rach Gia city, Kien Giang province) for 4 months for the act of "Fraudulent appropriation of property".

The investigation agency read the arrest warrant for Nguyen Van Tua.

According to the initial investigation results, from May 2022 to March 2023, Nguyen Van Tua fraudulently sold nearly 20,000 square meters ^of land in Da Chong Hamlet, Bai Thom Commune, Phu Quoc City to Mr. Pham Minh Tuan (residing in Ho Chi Minh City) and a number of other households by making a notarized record.

In fact, the above land area is managed by the People's Committee of Phu Quoc City, not Tua's. By deceitful means, Tua has appropriated more than 23 billion VND from the victims.

Searching Nguyen Van Tua's residence, the authorities seized many related documents.

When selling the land, Tua committed that the land was not in dispute, not seized or confiscated. However, after receiving the transfer, Mr. Pham Minh Tuan came to receive the land and build a house but was prevented by someone else. After learning that the land he bought was managed by the state, Mr. Tuan filed a complaint against Tua for fraud to the police.
