Gangster boss Thao 'Lui' has been arrested.

According to VTC News on June 6th, the Binh Thuan Provincial Police, in coordination with the Criminal Police Department of the Ministry of Public Security and the Ho Chi Minh City Police, arrested notorious gangster Nguyen Van Thao (aka Thao "Lui", 59 years old, residing in Xuan An Ward, Phan Thiet City) in Ho Chi Minh City in the early morning of June 6th.

Currently, Thao has been transferred from Ho Chi Minh City to Binh Thuan to assist with the investigation.

Thao 'Lui' is known as a kingpin in the criminal underworld of Binh Thuan.

Earlier, on the afternoon of June 3rd, hundreds of police officers from various forces raided one of Nguyen Van Thao's villas in Xuan An ward, Phan Thiet city. Investigators seized numerous documents and evidence for the investigation at the villa and simultaneously arrested a person believed to be Nguyen Van Thao's son.

The search was part of a special investigation by the Provincial Police into a tip-off from a citizen regarding property damage at a project in Phan Thiet City.

The suspect Thao "Lui" is also suspected of being involved in a drug trafficking ring that the Binh Thuan Police recently dismantled through a special investigation.

The case is still under investigation.
