In Binh Phuoc province, a 32-year-old woman from Dong Phu district gave birth to a baby girl weighing 2.9 kg, still inside her amniotic sac, at Hoan My Hospital.
On the afternoon of June 15th, a representative from Hoan My Binh Phuoc Hospital stated that doctors had successfully ruptured the amniotic sac and delivered the baby safely. This was the mother's second pregnancy, and doctors recommended a cesarean section because her first delivery was a C-section.
Both mother and child are currently in stable health. Doctors say that being born still inside the amniotic sac is a rare occurrence, happening in about one in 80,000 births.

Inside the mother's womb, the fetus lies within the amniotic sac. The amniotic sac has a thin but strong membrane, filled with fluid that keeps the fetus warm and safe. When full term, the amniotic sac ruptures before the baby is born.
Babies born still inside the amniotic sac are popularly known as "born in a caul." Because babies born in this sac are prone to suffocation, people in the past believed that if these children survived, they would experience good fortune and wealth.
