The patient arrived at the island infirmary conscious, responsive, experiencing dizziness and lightheadedness, with multiple dressings applied to a wound on their left hand.
Upon examination, the island's military doctors diagnosed the patient with injuries to his left hand: torn fingernails of the first and third fingers, open fracture of the first phalanx at the metacarpophalangeal joint, and necrosis of the second and third phalanges due to a work accident on the second day.
The island's medical team performed surgery to clean the wound, remove necrotic tissue, create a stump for the third finger, suture the wound on the first finger of the left hand, administer intravenous fluids, antibiotics, and painkillers, and monitor the stump post-operatively. After nearly two hours of professional procedures, the surgery was successful. Patient Le Lai's health is temporarily stable, and he will continue to stay on the island for post-operative monitoring and treatment.
Earlier, at approximately 12:30 PM on December 10th, while fishing in the waters near Song Tu Tay Island, fisherman Lai's left hand was caught in a stone crushing machine, causing significant bleeding. He was treated with sugar applied to the wound and bandaged to stop the bleeding before being transported to Song Tu Tay Island for emergency treatment.
Patient Le Lai, 52 years old, from Phu Yen province, is a crew member of the fishing vessel PY 92122 TS, engaged in purse seine fishing. The vessel has 5 workers.
