During the meeting, Chairman of the Board of Directors Nguyen Canh Tinh and Ambassador Pekka Voutilainen exchanged information and discussed the results of the recent high-level visit to Finland. VIMC Chairman Nguyen Canh Tinh discusses cooperation directions in the maritime sector with the Finnish Ambassador.

Discussing the potential for trade connectivity, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of VIMC stated that Finland serves as a gateway to the Nordic market, the European Union (EU), and the Baltic Sea region; while Vietnam possesses a strategic logistics position within ASEAN. These complementary advantages create further opportunities for businesses from both sides to expand supply chains and develop service networks in the region.

During the meeting, VIMC leaders also provided an overview of the corporation's development strategy and investment priorities for the coming period, particularly its orientation towards developing a modern, green, and sustainable seaport system, linked to digital transformation and enhancing logistics capabilities.

Ambassador Pekka Voutilainen expressed his desire for Finnish businesses to participate in VIMC's key port infrastructure development projects.

On the Finnish side, Ambassador Pekka Voutilainen expressed interest in the many port infrastructure development projects that Vietnam is promoting, including large-scale projects in Can Gio, Cai Mep - Thi Vai, and Lien Chieu, which further demonstrate Vietnam's strategy of becoming an important logistics hub in the region. This also presents a wide-open space for cooperation for Finnish businesses with a strong tradition in managing, operating, and developing maritime infrastructure.

The Ambassador expressed confidence that, with the recently upgraded strategic partnership, the two countries have a favorable foundation to promote substantive cooperation, especially in areas where Finland has strengths and extensive experience. He also hoped that Finnish organizations and businesses would participate and contribute actively to VIMC's key port infrastructure development projects.
