Numerous army kitchens simultaneously lit their fires, racing against time to deliver thousands of hot meals to people in isolated areas.
In Phu Hoa 1 commune, as of this afternoon, floodwaters are still widespread in some areas. This has made the atmosphere inside Phu Hoa 1 Kindergarten more urgent than ever. This is the location where Regiment 584 (Provincial Military Command) is setting up a field kitchen to serve 100 meals to the local people.
In the small kitchen, five soldiers from the unit, along with the kindergarten teachers, busied themselves with various tasks. Some washed rice, others picked vegetables, and some cooked. Some of the food was brought along by the 584th Regiment during their march, while others were quickly purchased by the unit from grocery stores.
Wiping away the sweat from his forehead, his hands still nimbly stirring the large pot of soup, Corporal Y Ja Niê (303rd Battalion, 584th Regiment) shared: “Only by witnessing it firsthand can you truly understand how hard our people work. Having been accustomed to training on the battlefield, now holding a ladle to cook rice and share it with the people, we all told each other we had to work as quickly as possible.”

| Soldiers and local residents are quickly preparing dinner for tonight for the isolated households. |
Major Nguyen Duy Khoa, Deputy Chief of Staff of Regiment 584, who was present alongside the troops, said that the regiment's personnel participating in flood response are currently concentrated in two hotspots: Phu Hoa 1 commune and Tay Hoa commune.
“We have adopted the principle that wherever the floodwaters recede, the soldiers will help people clean up schools, public facilities, and houses. With all our hearts, the unit will try to support people so they have enough food and their homes are clean of mud after the flood,” Major Nguyen Duy Khoa affirmed.
Military-civilian kitchens were set up urgently to promptly distribute meals to hundreds of people in isolated areas on the evening of November 21st.
Not only in Phu Hoa 1, but also in Tuy Hoa ward, the atmosphere is equally bustling. The kitchen there is staffed by female soldier Major Nguyen Thi Hoang Anh (Command of Defense Area 6 – Tuy Hoa). Major Hoang Anh shared that during the storm and floods, a little help when hungry is worth more than a lot when full. Ensuring food safety and hygiene, as well as the speed of packaging, are top priorities for her and her comrades. The neatly packed, square lunch boxes are passed around, reflecting the meticulousness and thoughtfulness of the soldiers.
During an inspection tour to assess the flood situation in Dak Lak province and surrounding areas, this afternoon, Lieutenant General Truong Thien To, Deputy Head of the General Political Department of the Vietnam People's Army, along with the delegation, visited the kitchen of the Command Headquarters of Defense Zone 6 – Tuy Hoa.
Here, General Truong Thien To cordially inquired about and encouraged the officers, soldiers, and coordinating forces who are performing duties related to feeding the troops and assisting the people; at the same time, he praised the proactive spirit of "Serving the People" of the army's officers and soldiers...
Once the meals were prepared, the real challenge began. Soldiers and other functional forces immediately used boats and canoes to cross heavily flooded areas, becoming "special delivery drivers" bringing warmth to each household, while also acting as rescuers in emergency situations.

Currently, the entire eastern region of the province has established a network of 9 mobile kitchens.
Of these, seven kitchens implemented the "military-civilian cooperation" model – ensuring logistical support for soldiers on duty while providing wholesome meals to the local population. This network spanned across flood-prone areas such as: Song Hinh, Duc Binh, Tay Hoa, Hoa Thinh, Hoa My, Phu Hoa 1, Phu Hoa 2, Tuy Hoa City, Dong Hoa Town, Hoa Hiep, Hoa Xuan, Dong Xuan, Tuy An Tay…
In particular, to support the Tuy Hoa area, the 655th Transport Brigade is deploying a specialized field kitchen vehicle this afternoon to provide additional hot meals daily, ensuring the health of the forces on duty and the people in the flooded areas.
