There are currently strong winds of force 7-9 in the South China Sea. According to meteorological experts, this is wind speed comparable to that of a tropical depression.

On the afternoon of August 13th, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Environment Nguyen Hoang Hiep signed a document addressed to the People's Committees of coastal provinces and cities from Quang Ninh to An Giang, requesting them to proactively respond to strong winds and high waves at sea.

The official letter from the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment was sent after the National Center for Meteorological and Hydrological Forecasting reported on August 13th that the northeastern sea area of ​​the North East Sea had winds of force 7-9, gusting to force 11-12, with very rough seas and waves 2-5m high.

At the same time, the sea area from Lam Dong to Ho Chi Minh City and the western sea area of ​​the South China Sea, including the western sea area of ​​the Truong Sa special zone, will experience strong southwest winds of level 5, sometimes level 6, gusting to level 7-8, rough seas, and waves 1.5-3m high.

The meteorological agency warned that on August 14th, the northeastern part of the North East Sea would still experience strong winds of force 7-8, gusting to force 9-10, with waves 2-4 meters high and rough seas.

To proactively respond, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment requests that provinces and cities immediately notify captains and owners of vessels operating at sea so that they can take proactive preventive measures and plan their production accordingly, ensuring the safety of people and property.

Local authorities need to continuously monitor weather warnings and maintain communication to promptly handle any adverse situations that may arise. The Ministry also requested that localities have forces and resources ready to deploy rescue and relief efforts in the event of adverse situations or incidents.
