CHRONOLOGY OF EVENTS IN THUA THIEN HUE PROVINCE FROM 1990 TO THE PRESENT (AFTER THE RE-ESTABLISHMENT OF THUA THIEN HUE PROVINCE ON JULY 1, 1989 ACCORDING TO THE RESOLUTION OF THE 8TH NATIONAL ASSEMBLY, PASSED AT ITS 5TH SESSION).

Period 1990-2000 - On September 29, 1990, the Council of Ministers issued Decision No. 345/HĐBT on the readjustment of the administrative boundaries of Thua Thien Hue province as follows: + Transferring 8 communes from Hue City to Huong Phu district (including Thuy Bang, Thuy Duong, Phu Thuong, Phu Mau, Thuan An, Phu Thanh, Phu Duong, and Phu Tan communes) and transferring 9 communes from Hue City to Huong Dien district (including Binh Thanh, Binh Dien, Huong Dien, Huong Ho, Huong An, Huong Vinh, Huong Tho, Huong Phong, and Hai Duong communes). Hue City was left with 18 wards and 5 communes. + Dividing Phu Loc district into 2 districts: Phu Loc (1 town, 17 communes) and Nam Dong (9 communes). + Dividing Huong Phu district into 2 districts: Huong Thuy (1 town, 11 communes) and Phu Vang (21 communes). + Huong Dien district was divided into 3 districts: Huong Tra (1 town, 15 communes), Phong Dien (15 communes), and Quang Dien (10 communes). After the boundary adjustment, Thua Thien Hue province had 1 city and 8 districts (Hue City, Phong Dien, Quang Dien, Huong Tra, Huong Thuy, Phu Vang, Phu Loc, A Luoi, and Nam Dong districts). - From April 24th to April 27th, 1991, the 10th Provincial Party Congress (Round 1) was held in Hue City. 301 delegates representing nearly 15,000 party members of the Thua Thien Hue Party Committee attended the congress. - From September 19th to September 22nd, 1991, the 10th Provincial Party Congress (Round 2) was held in Hue City. 301 delegates representing nearly 15,000 party members of the Thua Thien Hue Party Committee attended the congress. The Congress elected the Provincial Party Committee for the 1991-1995 term, consisting of 40 members. - On September 23, 1991, the Provincial Party Committee held its first meeting to elect the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, comprising 8 members: Vu Thang, Nguyen Khoa Diem, Vo Nguyen Quang, Pham Ba Dien, Phan Van Duong, Ngo Yen Thi, Nguyen Dinh Ngo, and Le Van Hoang. Comrade Vu Thang was elected Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee. Comrades Nguyen Khoa Diem and Vo Nguyen Quang were elected Deputy Secretaries of the Provincial Party Committee. - On July 19, 1992, voters throughout the province participated in the election of representatives to the 9th National Assembly. Thua Thien Hue had 5 candidates elected to the National Assembly: Comrades Le Duc Anh, Nguyen Dinh Ngo, Vo Nguyen Quang, Nguyen Khoa Kim Boi, and Venerable Thich Thien Sieu. - On December 11, 1993, the Hue Imperial Citadel complex was recognized by UNESCO as a World Cultural Heritage site, opening up new prospects for cultural and tourism development. - On December 20, 1993, the Prime Minister issued Decision No. 605/TTg approving the main directions in the overall planning project for the construction of Hue city until 2010. - On April 4, 1994, the Prime Minister issued Decree 30/CP establishing Hue University based on the reorganization of existing universities. Hue University has six member universities: the University of Science, the University of Education, the University of Agriculture and Forestry, the University of Medicine, the University of Arts, the University of General Studies, and the Faculty of Economics. - On December 17, 1994, the President of Vietnam decided to posthumously award the title of Heroic Vietnamese Mother to 276 mothers, including 114 living mothers in Thua Thien Hue. - On November 20, 1994, the entire province held elections for People's Councils at all levels with good results, with 99.83% of voters participating. - On December 15, 1994, the Provincial People's Council, 3rd term, 1994-1999, held its first session. Mr. Ngo Yen Thi was elected Chairman of the People's Council. Mr. Duong Van Trinh was elected Vice Chairman of the People's Council. Mr. Phan Van Duong was elected Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee. Mr. Le Van Hoang, Mr. Nguyen Van Me, and Mr. Le Viet Xe were elected Vice Chairmen of the Provincial People's Committee. - On December 30, 1994, President Le Duc Anh signed a decision awarding the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces to the people and armed forces of Hue City. - From May 7 to 10, 1996, the 11th Congress of the Thua Thien Hue Provincial Party Committee was held in Hue City. 348 delegates representing over 16,000 party members from 20 subordinate party committees throughout the province attended. The Congress elected the Thua Thien Hue Provincial Party Committee Executive Board, consisting of 47 members. The first meeting of the 11th term of the Thua Thien Hue Provincial Party Committee Executive Board elected the Secretary, Deputy Secretary, Standing Committee members, and the Provincial Party Committee Inspection Committee. Comrade Ngo Yen Thi was elected Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee. - In November 1999, a historic flood occurred, the largest flood in over 100 years, resulting in 372 deaths and disappearances, and 94 injuries. Throughout the province, 139 out of 150 communes, wards, and towns were severely flooded; the two mountainous districts of Nam Dong and A Luoi, as well as the hilly areas, suffered heavy flash floods... - On the afternoon of November 13, 1999, at the Central Cultural House, the Provincial Party Committee held a memorial service for the compatriots and comrades who sacrificed their lives and perished in the floods. - On December 12, 1999, Thua Thien Hue held elections for the People's Councils at three levels. - From April 8 to 20, 2000, the Hue Festival 2000 - the result of Vietnamese-French cultural cooperation and exchange - took place in the ancient capital of Hue, a significant cultural activity affirming the national cultural identity, Hue culture, and integration with advanced world cultures. ___________________________________________________ Period 2001 - 2010 - From January 2 to 5, 2001, the 12th Provincial Party Congress was held in Hue City. The Congress was attended by 380 delegates. The Congress elected an Executive Committee of 47 members. Comrade Ho Xuan Man was elected Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee. - From May 4th to 15th, 2002, the Hue Festival 2002 took place in Hue. - On November 7th, 2003, Hue Royal Court Music was recognized by UNESCO as an intangible cultural heritage of humanity. - From June 12th to 20th, 2004, the Hue Festival 2004 took place in Hue. - From August 5th to 15th, 2004, the 6th Phu Dong Sports Festival was held in Hue City. 62 out of 64 delegations won medals, with the top three delegations being Ho Chi Minh City, Thua Thien Hue, and Hanoi. - From July 15th to 17th, 2005, the first Traditional Craft Festival took place in Hue. - On August 24, 2005, the Prime Minister issued a Decision recognizing Hue City as a Type I urban area directly under Thua Thien Hue province. - From December 6 to 9, 2005, the 13th Congress of the Thua Thien Hue Provincial Party Committee was held in Hue City. The Congress elected a 49-member Executive Committee and 13 members to the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee. Comrade Ho Xuan Man, a member of the Central Committee of the Party and Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee of the 12th term, was re-elected to continue serving as Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee of the 13th term. - From June 3 to 11, 2006, the Hue Festival 2006 took place in Hue. - From June 8 to 10, 2007, the second Traditional Craft Festival was held in Hue. - On June 3, 2008, the People's Committee of Hue City solemnly organized the ceremony to announce the Prime Minister's Decision to develop Hue City into a Festival City. - From June 3rd to 11th, 2008, the Hue Festival 2008 took place in Hue. - On June 9th, 2008, Thua Thien Hue province solemnly held a ceremony to receive the First-Class Independence Order. - On May 25th, 2009, the Politburo issued Conclusion 48-KL/TW on the construction and development of Thua Thien Hue province. - From June 12th to 14th, 2009, the Hue Traditional Craft Festival 2009 was held with the theme "Traditional Crafts - Identity and Development". - On July 31st, 2009, the Nguyen Dynasty woodblocks were recognized by UNESCO as the first World Documentary Heritage in Vietnam. - On February 9th, 2010, the Government issued Resolution No. 08/NQ-CP on the establishment of Huong Thuy town and the establishment of wards belonging to Huong Thuy town, Thua Thien Hue province. - On March 25, 2010, the Government issued Resolution 14/NQ-CP establishing three additional wards: Huong Long, Thuy Xuan, and Thuy Bieu in Hue City, Thua Thien Hue Province. - On March 26, 2010, Thua Thien Hue held a rally to commemorate the 35th anniversary of the complete liberation of the homeland and the 50th anniversary of the Hanoi-Hue-Saigon sister city relationship, "as one tree, as children of one family." - On August 21, 2010, the opening ceremony of the 3rd Thua Thien Hue Provincial Patriotic Emulation Congress took place at the Provincial Cultural and Information Center. - The 14th Congress of the Thua Thien Hue Provincial Party Committee, term 2010-2015, elected a new Executive Committee consisting of 55 members, including a Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee with 15 members. In Thua Thien Hue province, 790,118 voters participated, representing a turnout of 99.99%. - On November 15, 2011, the Government issued Resolution No. 99/NQ-CP on the establishment of Huong Tra town with 16 subordinate administrative units, including 7 wards and 9 communes. - From April 7-15, 2012, the Hue Festival 2012 took place with the theme "Cultural Heritage with Integration and Development - A Meeting Place of Historical Cities" and the opening of the National Tourism Year of the North Central Coast - Hue 2012. - From April 27, 2013 to May 1, 2013, the Hue Traditional Craft Festival 2013 took place with the theme: The Quintessence of Vietnamese Crafts. - On May 14, 2014, at the 6th Plenary Session of the Memory of the World Programme for the Asia- Pacific region, the dossier "Nguyen Dynasty Imperial Records" was officially inscribed on the UNESCO Memory of the World Programme Asia-Pacific Documentary Heritage list. - On August 4, 2015, the 4th Provincial Emulation Congress was held at the Provincial Cultural and Information Center. - From October 22-24, 2015, the 15th Congress of the Thua Thien Hue Provincial Party Committee, term 2015-2020, was held at the Provincial Cultural and Information Center. Comrade Le Truong Luu was elected Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee for the 15th term, 2015-2020. - The 9th Hue Festival in 2016, with the theme "710 years of Thuan Hoa - Phu Xuan - Thua Thien Hue; Cultural Heritage with Integration and Development," took place from April 29 to May 4, 2016. - On May 19, 2016, at the 7th Conference of the Memory of the World Programme's Asia-Pacific Regional Committee (MOWCAP), the poetry and literature on Hue's imperial architecture were recognized as a world documentary heritage. - The election of deputies to the 14th National Assembly and deputies to the People's Councils at all levels for the 2016-2021 term took place on May 22, 2016. In Thua Thien Hue province, 877,939 out of 877,975 registered voters cast their ballots, achieving a turnout rate of 99.996%. The Provincial People's Council consists of 53 members. Mr. Le Truong Luu, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council, 6th term, was re-elected as Chairman of the Provincial People's Council, 7th term, 2016-2021. - On June 28, 2016, Hue City, Thua Thien Hue province, received the title of National Green City 2016 (the first city in Vietnam) organized by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF). To date, Hue City, Thua Thien Hue province, has achieved three titles: "ASEAN Cultural City", "Environmentally Sustainable City" selected by ASEAN in 2014, and the title "National Green City 2016". - From March 3 to March 5, 2017, Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko of Japan visited Hue. This event marks the strong and effective cooperation between Thua Thien Hue province and Japanese localities and partners over the past period, opening a new chapter in expanding cooperative relations between the parties in the future. - On April 14, 2017, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism issued Decision 1531/QD-BVHTTDL recognizing Hai Van Pass as a National Monument. The decision to recognize Hai Van Pass as a national historical and architectural monument is a welcome sign for Thua Thien Hue and Da Nang in investing in the renovation and management of the monument, enhancing the beauty of the North-South highway through Hai Van Pass and serving tourism development. - The 7th Hue Traditional Craft Festival “The Quintessence of Vietnamese Crafts” took place from April 28th to May 2nd, 2017. The 7th Traditional Craft Festival continued to be a gathering place for the intellect and talent of artisans from craft villages in Thua Thien Hue and many other localities nationwide. This is an important cultural and economic event aimed at affirming and enhancing the position of Hue, the Green Ancient Capital – a World Heritage site – a safe and friendly city. - From September 26th to 29th, 2017, the APEC Women and Economy Forum 2017 was held in Hue City. This was one of the activities within the framework of the APEC 2017 program held in Vietnam. - On January 27th, 2018, Huong Thuy town solemnly held a ceremony to receive the Prime Minister's Decision recognizing Duong Hoa commune as a Safe Zone commune. - From April 27th to May 2nd, 2018, the Hue Festival 2018, themed "Cultural Heritage with Integration and Development - Hue: One Destination, Five Heritages," took place in Hue City and other localities of Thua Thien Hue province. With the participation of 24 art troupes from 19 countries and territories across all five continents, the festival presented audiences with hundreds of artistic programs showcasing the unique cultural identity of Hue, Vietnamese culture, and the cultural essence of countries around the world. - The extraordinary session of the Provincial People's Council, 7th term (2016-2021) (June 4, 2018) elected Mr. Phan Ngoc Tho, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation, and Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, to the position of Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee for the 2016-2021 term. - The "International Cycling Festival in Hue" is a sporting event held for the first time in Hue from August 24-26, 2018. This race will become the first sporting event in Vietnam and one of the sporting events in Southeast Asia to be registered with the International Cycling Federation (UCI) in 2019. - Thua Thien Hue province received the First Class Labor Medal from the Lao People's Democratic Republic (November 29, 2018). This is a prestigious award from the Party and State of the Lao People's Democratic Republic for the important contributions of the Party Committee, Government, and People of Thua Thien Hue province in building the special friendship, solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos in the past. - On December 19, 2018, the Prime Minister approved the Master Plan for the Development of the Lang Co - Canh Duong National Tourist Area in Thua Thien Hue province until 2025, with a vision to 2030 (Decision No. 1774/QD-TTg). The goal of the plan is that by 2025, the Lang Co - Canh Duong Tourist Area will become a leading important destination of Thua Thien Hue province and the Central region, with a synchronous and modern technical infrastructure system, an attractive investment environment to attract tourism development projects, meeting the criteria and being recognized as a National Tourist Area; Striving to make the Lang Co - Canh Duong tourist area an international-class destination by 2030. - Establishing the Thua Thien Hue Provincial Smart City Monitoring and Management Center. The Thua Thien Hue Provincial Smart City Monitoring and Management Center has the function of synthesizing, monitoring, and managing smart city services, performing professional tasks in the field of information and communication technology; providing solutions, services, and applications in the field of information and communication technology and smart city services. The Center officially started operating on January 2, 2019. - Announcing the Thua Thien Hue Provincial Department, Agency, and District-level Competitiveness Index (DDCI) for 2018. This is the first year Thua Thien Hue province has implemented the DDCI assessment. The top 5 leading units (department, agency, and district level) are: Department of Health, Department of Tourism, Department of Foreign Affairs, Department of Justice, and Department of Internal Affairs. The top 5 leading units (at the district level) are: the People's Committees of Quang Dien, Nam Dong, Phu Loc, Phong Dien districts and Huong Thuy town. - The 8th Hue Traditional Craft Festival in 2019, with the theme "The Quintessence of Vietnamese Crafts," took place from April 26 to May 2, 2019. The Hue Traditional Craft Festival continued to affirm and honor the quintessential values ​​of Hue's heritage and traditional crafts from various regions of the country; introduce and promote the essence of crafts, handicraft products and traditional cuisine of Vietnam in general and Thua Thien Hue province in particular; contributing to the goal of building Hue into a distinctive Festival city of Vietnam. - On May 15, 2019, at the Central Square of A Luoi district, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism held a ceremony to announce the Decision to rank the Truong Son - Ho Chi Minh Trail as a Special National Monument for Thua Thien Hue province. This event commemorates the 60th anniversary of the opening of the Ho Chi Minh Trail (May 19, 1959 - May 19, 2019). - On May 20, 2019, the Smart Operations Center solution in Thua Thien Hue province, implemented by Viettel Telecommunications Group, was awarded the Telecom Asia Awards 2019 in the category of the most innovative smart city project in Asia. - Thua Thien Hue was honored to receive the First-Class Independence Order from the Party and State after 30 years of re-establishing the province (July 1, 1989 - July 1, 2019). The ceremony to receive the First-Class Independence Order was held solemnly on August 17, 2019. - At the end of March 2020, the Perfume River Theatre was completed and put into operation. This was the first time the Hue Imperial Citadel Relics Conservation Center organized a tribute to Lord Nguyen Phuc Khoat, the founder of the Vietnamese Ao Dai (traditional dress). Comrade Le Truong Luu - Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee for the 15th term, was re-elected to continue serving as Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee for the 16th term. - On December 6, 2020, 367 "Outstanding Students of the Entire School" were honored for the first time at the Imperial Academy. This is the first time an honorary title has been awarded by the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee to students who have excellently fulfilled their duties as students and achieved outstanding overall results during the school year, aiming to motivate, honor, encourage learning, and utilize talented individuals for the benefit of society. - On December 21, 2020, the first Vietravel Airlines aircraft landed at Phu Bai International Airport. Vietravel Airlines is the first travel airline in Vietnam licensed by the Prime Minister to operate based at Phu Bai International Airport, Thua Thien Hue province. The Vietnam Travel Airlines project (Vietravel Airlines) has a total investment of 700 billion VND, a project operating period of 50 years, and over 30 aircraft. - 2020 was the year of completion of the relocation of residents in the Thuong Thanh area. The new Huong So residential area has been established, bringing stability to the residents. Thanks to the efforts of the local government and the support of the people, the relocation of residents from the Thuong Thanh area has been completed. Households have built stable homes in the new residential area (Huong So ward, Hue city); 25 houses for poor households have also been handed over on a turnkey basis, enabling residents to settle down and make a living. The initial success in relocating residents from the Thuong Thanh area serves as a foundation and impetus for subsequent relocation phases of the project to relocate residents and clear land in Zone I of the Hue Imperial Citadel relic system. The establishment of the Hue library aims to promote the image of Hue through books, develop a reading culture, introduce valuable books, create a collection of culturally significant gifts from the ancient capital, and build a scientific database for research on Thua Thien Hue in all fields... - On May 29th, the Thua Thien Hue Provincial Election Committee issued Resolution 79/NQ-UBND announcing the election results and the list of elected representatives to the Provincial People's Council, 8th term, 2021-2026. According to the election results for the Thua Thien Hue Provincial People's Council, 8th term, 2021-2026, the total number of representatives allocated to the Provincial People's Council is 51, the total number of candidates is 86, and the total number of elected representatives to the Provincial People's Council is 51. - On June 28, 2021, at the first session of the 8th Provincial People's Council, Mr. Nguyen Van Phuong, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, was elected to the position of Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee for the 2021-2026 term. - On July 1, 2021, according to Resolution 1264/NQ-UBTVQH14 dated April 27, 2021, Thua Thien Hue province has 9 district-level administrative units (6 districts, 2 towns, and 1 city); and 141 commune-level administrative units (95 communes, 39 wards, and 7 townships).

The resolution takes effect from January 1st, 2022 and will be implemented for 5 years. - From November 18th to 20th, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, in coordination with the People's Committee of Thua Thien Hue province, organized the opening ceremony of the 22nd Vietnam Film Festival with the theme "Building a Vietnamese film industry rich in national identity, modern and humane". - On November 23rd, at the Ho Chi Minh Museum in Hue City, the Department of Culture and Sports held a ceremony to announce the Decision and receive the certificate classifying the system of memorial relics of President Ho Chi Minh in Thua Thien Hue as a special national-level historical site. - On November 23rd, 2021, Deputy Prime Minister Pham Binh Minh signed Decision No. 1972/QD-TTg recognizing Huong Thuy town, Thua Thien Hue province, as having completed the task of building new rural areas in 2020. This is the first locality in the province to be recognized as having completed the task of building new rural areas. - On November 23rd, the Hue Imperial Citadel Relics Conservation Center held a groundbreaking ceremony for the comprehensive conservation and restoration project of Thai Hoa Palace. The project officially commenced on November 23, 2021, and is expected to be completed on August 23, 2025. - On November 25, within the framework of the working visit of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and the high-level Vietnamese delegation to Japan, at the Vietnam-Japan Investment Promotion Conference, representatives of the Thua Thien Hue Provincial People's Committee, Chairman Nguyen Van Phuong, and AEON MALL Vietnam Co., Ltd. exchanged a Memorandum of Understanding on the Investment Decision for a shopping center in Thua Thien Hue province. - On December 19, the Hue Imperial Citadel Relics Conservation Center, in coordination with the Da Nang City Department of Culture and Sports, held the groundbreaking ceremony for the project to preserve, restore, and promote the value of the Hai Van Pass relic. The project for the preservation, restoration, and promotion of the Hai Van Pass historical site is being built at the summit of Hai Van Pass, between Lang Co town, Phu Loc district, Thua Thien Hue province and Hoa Hiep Bac ward, Lien Chieu district, Da Nang city, covering an area of ​​approximately 6,500m2. The total investment for the project is over 42 billion VND, with 50% from the Da Nang city budget and 50% from the Thua Thien Hue province budget. The project is scheduled for completion within 2 years. In 2022: - On February 24th , the Provincial People's Committee held a ceremony to announce the Prime Minister 's decision recognizing Huong Thuy town as having completed the task of building new rural areas and receiving the Third-Class Independence Medal. After 9 years of implementing the national target program, by September 2019, Huong Thuy had 7 out of 7 communes recognized by the Provincial People's Committee as meeting the standards of new rural areas. From 2011 to 2019, Huong Thuy received support and mobilized resources from various sources with a total capital of over 2,490 billion VND. In addition, the people donated 15,730 m2 of land, 1,409 m of fences, 4,928 trees, and 50,830 man-hours of labor… Thanks to this collective effort, the appearance of rural areas in Huong Thuy has changed significantly. The entire transportation system in the area is ensured to meet the standards of the New Rural Development program with 86.424 km of commune main roads, 52.086 km of village main roads; 140 km of internal field roads; the rate of households using electricity regularly and safely reaches 100%; 100% of rice production land is mechanized; concentrated fruit growing areas have been formed, yielding high incomes and profits of 200-300 million VND/hectare/year. The average income of communes building new rural areas in 2020 reached over 45 million VND; the employment rate in the town reached 98%; the poverty rate is currently only 1.89% (according to the new standard)... Previously, on November 23, 2021, the Prime Minister signed a Decision recognizing Huong Thuy town as having completed the task of building new rural areas in 2020, and at the same time, it was the first district-level unit in Thua Thien Hue to have the honor of achieving this achievement. - On March 17 , the Provincial People's Committee held an online signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding with the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) in Vietnam on the implementation of the "Vietnam-Korea Peace Village" project. The project's objective, signed between Thua Thien Hue and KOICA, is to improve human security for communities in target areas; and to strengthen sustainable rural development through enhanced sustainable livelihoods and infrastructure for target communities. The project will be implemented in A Luoi district from 2022 to 2026 with non-refundable aid from the Government of South Korea to the People's Committee of Thua Thien Hue province not exceeding USD 3,229,246. - On March 26th , at Thai Duong Ha Nam Hamlet, Hai Duong Commune, Hue City, the People's Committee of Thua Thien Hue province solemnly held the groundbreaking ceremony for the Project: Coastal road through Thua Thien Hue province and bridge over Thuan An estuary (the Project). The investment project was approved by the Chairman of the People's Committee of the province in Decision No. 2012/QD-UBND dated August 16, 2021. Investor: Project Management Board for Investment and Construction of Transport Works (project implementation phase). The objective of the Project is to create a coastal tourism route along the coast of Thua Thien Hue province; In this project, the route is strategically positioned closer to the coastline (no more than 1km from the coast, and locally no more than 2km from the coast) to facilitate the development of coastal urban areas, serving the socio -economic and tourism development of the locality, improving and enhancing the lives of people in coastal communes in particular and Thua Thien Hue province in general. It will seamlessly connect with the planned national coastal road network, creating favorable conditions for North-South transportation and increasing connectivity to key coastal seaports, economic zones, and industrial parks in Central Vietnam. The investment scale (phase 1) is 7,785m long, from Tam Giang Bridge to the bridge over Thuan An estuary, ending at the intersection of National Highway 49A and National Highway 49B in Thuan An ward. The bridge over Thuan An estuary is 2,360.6m long; the route's cross-section is 26m wide; and the bridge width is 20.0m. Total investment (Phase 1): 2,400 billion VND (Total investment for the completion phase is 3,496 billion VND). Construction time is 3 years. - On April 17th, the Hue Imperial Citadel Relics Conservation Center held a ceremony to receive artifacts successfully auctioned abroad, donated by Sunshine Group, and to exhibit the Nguyen Dynasty's high-ranking official's hat and concubine's robe at the Hue Imperial Antiquities Museum. The artifacts, including the high-ranking official's hat and concubine's robe, were assessed by an appraisal council with the participation of scientists, artisans, and antique collectors. They were all valuable artifacts dating from the late 19th and early 20th centuries, closely associated with the court life of the Nguyen Dynasty, and possessing significant cultural and historical value. The return of the Nguyen Dynasty's high-ranking official's hat and concubine's robe has added to the collection of artifacts in a museum with a history of nearly 100 years closely associated with the Hue imperial palace complex. - On April 23 , the Vietnam Software and Information Technology Services Association (VINASA) held the Announcement and Award Ceremony for the 2022 Sao Khue Awards in Hanoi . After preliminary rounds, presentations, and voting, the Thua Thien Hue Provincial Urban Monitoring and Management Center, with its product "Thua Thien Hue Province Shared Digitalization Platform," was honored by the judging panel as an outstanding product of the Vietnamese software and information technology industry and was recognized as a winner of the 2022 Sao Khue Award in the field of digital transformation platforms. - From June 25-30 , the Hue Festival 2022 was held with the theme "Cultural Heritage with Integration and Development." Major art troupes from both within and outside the country participated in a series of 8 main programs, 34 colorful and representative art performances, and more than 30 supporting activities, accompanying events, exhibitions, and displays continuously over 6 days and nights at 11 stages and performance venues throughout the area. The Hue Festival Week 2022 attracted over 180,000 visitors to Hue; simultaneously, the programs created a significant impact and widespread reach on social media platforms with over 7,770,000 views. Hue Festival 2022 was the first festival organized according to a four-season orientation. - On June 17th, the Provincial People's Committee solemnly held a ceremony to announce the Prime Minister's decision recognizing Quang Dien district as having completed the task of building new rural areas. After 10 years of implementing the New Rural Development Program, with the attention and guidance of all levels and sectors, Quang Dien has leveraged the strength of the entire political system and the whole population, focusing on mobilizing all resources and maximizing internal strengths through "joint efforts and unity" to build new rural districts and communes, achieving commendable results. To date, the district has 10 out of 10 communes meeting the New Rural Development standards, and Quang Dien district was recognized by the Prime Minister as a New Rural Development district in 2020 in a Decision dated May 9, 2022. Notably, among the 10 communes meeting the New Rural Development standards, 7 are particularly disadvantaged communes in the coastal plain area, and the satisfaction rate of the people with the results of the New Rural Development program in the district is very high (99.88%)... - On July 2nd, the General Nguyen Chi Thanh Museum (located at 144 Dang Thai Than Street, Thuan Hoa Ward, Hue City) was officially inaugurated and opened to visitors. A Bia Hill is a hill belonging to the Truong Son mountain range (located in Le Loc village, Hong Bac commune, A Luoi district, Thua Thien Hue province), situated in the mountainous area near the Vietnam-Laos border, rising 937m above sea level, offering panoramic views of a vast area of ​​the A Luoi valley. To the north, along the Dap Lim river, there are two high points, 916 and 903, which, combined with point 937, form a tripod-like structure 300-400m apart. The road to A Bia is very treacherous, but the hilltop is relatively flat, making it suitable for the construction of a makeshift airfield, military facilities, warehouses, artillery positions, etc. - On October 8th, the People's Committee of Thua Thien Hue province held the groundbreaking ceremony for the "Chan May Port Breakwater Project - Phase 2" at the Chan May wharf area of ​​Thua Thien Hue seaport. The planning scope covers the entire natural area of ​​Thua Thien Hue province, approximately 4,947 km2 (the specific area will be determined during the planning process according to the decision of the competent authority). The goal is that by 2025, Thua Thien Hue will become a centrally-governed city based on the preservation and promotion of the heritage values ​​of the ancient capital and the cultural identity of Hue, with distinctive cultural, heritage, ecological, landscape, environmentally friendly, and smart characteristics. By 2030, Thua Thien Hue will be one of the major and distinctive centers in Southeast Asia for culture, tourism, and specialized healthcare; one of the major centers nationwide for science and technology, multi-disciplinary and multi-field education and training of high quality; national defense and security will be firmly ensured; the Party Committee, government, and entire political system will be strong; and the material and spiritual lives of the people will reach a high level. By 2045, Thua Thien Hue will be a Festival City, a unique cultural, educational, tourism, and specialized healthcare center of Asia. - On October 20th, Deputy Prime Minister Le Minh Khai signed Decree No. 84/2022/ND-CP on the establishment and operating regulations of the Hue Heritage Conservation Fund. The Decree clearly states that the Hue Heritage Conservation Fund is a national fund established by the Government and directly managed by the People's Committee of Thua Thien Hue province, aiming to mobilize resources to invest in the restoration, preservation, and development of Hue's heritage values ​​and to invest in projects and items that have not been allocated state budget funds or have insufficient funding. The Hue Heritage Conservation Fund operates as a public service unit under the People's Committee of Thua Thien Hue province; it operates on a non-profit basis. On November 11th, in Huong Thuy town, the People's Committee of Thua Thien Hue province and Gilimex Industrial Park Joint Stock Company held the groundbreaking ceremony for the Gilimex Industrial Park in Thua Thien Hue. The investment project for the construction and operation of infrastructure in the Gilimex Industrial Park, with Gilimex Industrial Park Joint Stock Company as the investor, was approved by the Prime Minister in Decision No. 319/QD-TTg dated March 10, 2021. The project's land area is 460.85 hectares; the total investment capital is over 2,600 billion VND; and it is expected to attract approximately 20,000-30,000 workers. The Gilimex Industrial Park in Thua Thien Hue province has a favorable location, close to Phu Bai International Airport (2km away), situated along National Highway 1A and directly connecting Phu Bai Airport to Hue City, serving as the starting point of the East-West Economic Corridor; and 50km from Chan May Port. Located 80km from Da Nang Port and Da Nang city center, Gilimex Industrial Park is divided into two zones, A and B. To date, zone A has completed 50% of land leveling and 10% of technical infrastructure, with completion and handover to secondary investors expected in Q4/2022. After completing zone A, Gilimex Industrial Park Joint Stock Company will immediately proceed with land leveling and investment in technical infrastructure for zone B. - On December 23rd, the People's Committee of Thua Thien Hue province held the groundbreaking ceremony for the Nguyen Hoang Road and Huong River overpass project in Hue city. The Nguyen Hoang Road and Huong River overpass project is part of the Ring Road 3 - a main, central traffic artery connecting the two satellite towns of Huong Tra and Huong Thuy with Hue city. This is a special-grade transportation project, selected through multiple rounds of competition, with a unique architectural concept featuring a symbolic arch resembling a crane bowing to Thien Mu Pagoda, conveying a message about the enduring nature of the sacred ancient capital; harmonizing with the scenic landscapes, heritage, and culture of Hue. The project is implemented by a consortium of reputable foreign and Vietnamese consulting companies; it is a step towards realizing the Prime Minister's policy on approving the general planning of Hue city until 2030 and a vision to 2050; creating momentum and a highlight for the western area of ​​Hue city. The Nguyen Hoang road and bridge over the Perfume River project has a total investment of VND 2,281,569 million for the completion phase; and VND 1,855,655 million for phase 1. Investment capital comes from the central and local budgets. - On December 25th , Chan May Port Joint Stock Company, in coordination with Hai An Transport and Loading & Unloading Joint Stock Company, held the inauguration of a container route at Chan May Port, Phu Loc District, Thua Thien Hue Province. This marked the opening of a new transport service, contributing to the development of logistics services and connecting Chan May seaport with domestic and international ports. - On December 31st , the Ministry of Transport, in coordination with the People's Committees of Thua Thien Hue and Quang Tri provinces, solemnly held the inauguration ceremony for the Cam Lo - La Son component project of the "Eastern North-South Expressway Construction Project, 2017-2022". The Cam Lo - La Son component project, part of the Eastern North-South Expressway Construction Project, 2017-2020, is of significant importance, marking the beginning of the formation of an Eastern North-South Expressway. The project passes through Thua Thien Hue and Quang Tri provinces, connecting the economic and political centers of the two provinces, gradually completing a synchronized infrastructure, opening up many investment opportunities, and creating a foundation for socio-economic development of the two provinces in particular and the Central region in general.
