At 1 o'clock on May 20, receiving information from people, the Commander of Nha Rong Border Gate Station (Ho Chi Minh City Border Guard) sent a task force to arrest a group of illegal sand mining in the river.
The patrol team got on 2 canoes quickly to the Dong Nai river area, the border area between Long Tan commune, Nhon Trach district, Dong Nai province and Long Truong ward, Thu Duc city, Ho Chi Minh City. The patrol team discovered that a number of vehicles were illegally sucking sand and pumping it onto trucks.
The patrol team approached the scene, some subjects discovered and fled into the canals in Dong Nai province to escape.

The patrol team arrested a load boat LA 1 (capacity 01618CV, full load 15 tons) driven by Le Van Phuong (born in 10), on the vehicle with 1981m3 sand.
At the time of inspection, Le Van Phuong could not produce invoices and documents for the amount of sand on the vehicle and the driver did not have the professional certificates of captain and chief engineer. Boat LA 01618 has a certificate of technical safety and environmental protection but has expired.
