The red villa or "red house" is an abandoned building that has existed for nearly a century, built by the French in Phia Den hamlet, Thanh Cong commune, Nguyen Binh district. This location is part of the journey "Exploring Phia Oac - the mountain of changes" in Cao Bang Global Geopark. The climate here is cool all year round, 18 - 25 degrees Celsius.
The villa is located isolated on a hillside, with moss and vines clinging to the tile roof. The walls were initially yellow, but after many years gradually turned red, associated with word-of-mouth stories in the area, making this place gloomy, arousing the curiosity of tourists who come to explore the newly developed area.
