Silent dedication
In late 2024, while working on a report about the policy of assigning commune-level police chiefs and deputy chiefs to act as investigators in Thai Nguyen City Police, we had the opportunity to meet Lieutenant Colonel Dang Thi Thai Ninh, then Deputy Chief of Quan Trieu Ward Police. What impressed us was not only that she was the only female investigator at the grassroots level of the city police directly involved in resolving cases related to criminal offenses, drug trafficking, and public order, but also her calm and cautious demeanor when discussing her work.
Investigation is a highly demanding field, requiring objectivity, courage, and a strong sense of legal responsibility. Each case file is a series of details that need to be verified and cross-referenced; every record, every statement requires absolute accuracy. During peak periods, she and her colleagues often work late into the night, staying close to the scene and reviewing every document to ensure that the case is resolved in accordance with the law.
Born and raised in Thai Nguyen, she was recruited into the People's Public Security Force in 1998. From the Economic Police Department of Bac Kan Provincial Police, to the Northwest Security Department ( Ministry of Public Security ), and then the Vo Nhai District Police, each unit she worked for left her with unique experiences and life lessons.
In 2020, as part of the plan to assign regular police officers to positions in commune police stations, she was appointed Deputy Head of Quan Trieu Ward Police Station. For many, each change in work environment is a new beginning filled with uncertainty. But for Ms. Ninh, it was simply a task assigned by the organization.
Throughout her decades of service, what is most admirable about this female police officer is not the certificates of merit she has received, but her perseverance in the face of change. She always chooses to adapt instead of complaining, and to learn instead of being afraid.
Those who worked with her described her as a woman of few words, responsible in her work, and not afraid to take on difficult tasks. Therefore, when the organizational structure was reorganized and many officials had to change positions, she quietly accepted the new assignment as if it were perfectly normal.
From July 2025, after the implementation of the two-tiered local government model, she continued to be assigned to work at the Security Team of Quan Trieu Ward Police Station. Her job changed, but her sense of responsibility remained unchanged. From monitoring the local situation and managing suspects to participating in the fight against harmful and toxic information on the internet, she always performed her duties with dedication and a serious attitude.
There are no grandiose achievements to be told, but in every case resolved according to the law, in the peace of the area, and in the people's trust in the local police force, there are the silent contributions of officers like her.

The loving embrace of a soldier
If you only met Lieutenant Colonel Dang Thi Thai Ninh on the sports field or at social events, few would imagine that this gentle-looking woman is an investigator who has directly handled many complex cases. For many years, she was a core athlete of the Thai Nguyen Provincial Police in sports competitions of the People's Police Force.
At the 9th "For National Security" Sports Festival organized by the Ministry of Public Security in 2025, she won a Silver Medal in the women's singles and a Bronze Medal in the women's doubles table tennis event.
For her, the medals are not just sporting achievements. They are also the result of persistent training, discipline, and the will to overcome personal limitations – qualities that are also essential for a police officer.
Perhaps it is from that same spirit that, in addition to her professional work, she always pays special attention to community activities. When I asked what moved her most during her years working at the grassroots level, the answer was not the cases she had solved or the achievements she had made, but the story of Bui Thi Hue, born in 2009, in Hiep Luc residential area.
Orphaned at a young age, Hue grew up in many material and emotional deprivations. After learning about her circumstances, Ms. Ninh proposed that the Women's Association of the Quan Trieu Ward Police Department develop a plan to sponsor her, providing monthly financial support for living expenses, books, clothes, and school supplies.
During holidays, festivals, or whenever I was sick and needed treatment, the sisters would come to visit and encourage me like family members.
Beyond providing material support, Ms. Ninh and the female police officers of the ward also showed the girl genuine care and warm affection of mothers. Over time, the girl, once shy and self-conscious because of her circumstances, gradually became more confident, studied harder, and gained more motivation to look towards the future. Hue is currently studying at Thai Nguyen Vocational College. For Ms. Ninh and her godmothers, that is perhaps a more meaningful reward than any certificate of merit.
With nearly 30 years of service, Lieutenant Colonel Dang Thi Thai Ninh has held many different positions. In every role, she has quietly dedicated herself with the sense of responsibility and devotion of a People's Police officer.
