At the Fine Arts Department of Viet Bac College of Culture and Arts, in addition to familiar exercises in drawing, composition, and color, students are also introduced to modern graphic design software. Computers become powerful tools in the creative process, helping them design images, edit graphics, and build digital art products.
Currently, the school's Computer-Assisted Fine Arts Design program at the intermediate level is attracting a large number of students. With 44 students, the current training capacity is more than double the enrollment target.
During their three years of study, students are equipped with foundational knowledge of drawing, composition, and color, while also developing skills in using design software to prepare them for future careers.
The combination of traditional painting and modern technology is opening up many career opportunities for art students.
Duong Nguyen Khoi, a student in the K6 Computer-Assisted Fine Arts Design program, shared: “I’ve loved painting since I was little, so I decided to pursue this field. Nowadays, knowing how to draw and design on a computer is essential because most graphic products are created in a digital environment. During our studies, we have access to many design software programs, through which we can take on some simple projects to gain experience and increase our income.”
Sharing a passion for creativity, Bui Dang Toan, a student in the K7 Computer-Assisted Fine Arts Design program, said: “What I like most is learning both hand drawing and computer-aided design. This field of study offers many job opportunities. After graduation, I can work in graphic design, advertising, media, or continue my studies to further my career.”
As an institution with a long history of excellence in fine arts education, the Faculty of Fine Arts always prioritizes innovation in teaching content to meet practical demands. According to faculty members, technology is increasingly becoming an effective tool to support artists. However, the foundation of painting remains core because computers are merely a means of expressing ideas, while aesthetic thinking and creative ability still belong to humans.
According to teacher and artist Duong Van Chung, Head of the Fine Arts Department at Viet Bac College of Culture and Arts: “Computer-aided art and design training is an inevitable trend today. The school has strengths in training in painting and applied arts, and is gradually integrating with digital technology . We focus on helping students build a solid foundation in fine arts while also mastering design tools to meet the increasingly high demands of the labor market.”
According to Mr. Duong Van Chung, the development of artificial intelligence and modern design software is creating many changes in the field of fine arts. However, technology cannot replace the ability to appreciate art, creativity, and individual style of each person. Therefore, students need to constantly improve their professional skills while proactively approaching and mastering new technologies.
