On May 13th, Minister of Health Dao Hong Lan presented the appointment decision for the position of Director of the Food Safety Department to Dr. Chu Quoc Thinh, Acting Director of the Food Safety Department, after the department had been without a Director for 9 months.
Mr. Chu Quoc Thinh's term of office is 5 years from the date the decision takes effect. The decision is effective from the date of signing and issuance.
Speaking at the ceremony to present the appointment decision, Minister of Health Dao Hong Lan, on behalf of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee of the Ministry of Health and the Ministry's leadership, congratulated Mr. Chu Quoc Thinh on being entrusted with this new nhiệm vụ by the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and the Ministry's leadership.

According to Minister Dao Hong Lan, the field of food safety has a huge workload. After the Food Safety Law of 2010 was promulgated, the Government developed many decrees guiding its implementation; among them, Decree 15/2018/ND-CP is considered a strong reform step, creating favorable conditions for businesses to develop production and business.
However, the implementation process has also revealed many shortcomings. Therefore, one of the key tasks now is to amend the Food Safety Law and develop a plan to unify the management of food safety under a single authority, as directed by the Politburo and the General Secretary.
Minister Dao Hong Lan requested that, in his newly appointed position, the new Director Chu Quoc Thinh fully utilize his abilities, skills, and experience, and foster a spirit of unity to work together with the Food Safety Department to successfully complete the tasks assigned by the Ministry of Health, for the overall development of the health sector.
Prior to his appointment as Deputy Director and then Director of the Food Safety Department, Mr. Chu Quoc Thinh worked at the Drug Administration Department.
In his acceptance speech, Dr. Chu Quoc Thinh affirmed that he will continue to strive, uphold a sense of responsibility, and dedicate all his passion and capabilities to working with the leadership, staff, and officials of the Food Safety Department to successfully complete the assigned tasks, contributing to protecting and caring for the health of the people.
