Leaders of the Ministry of Health attended the ceremony to receive the valuable documentary photograph "President Ho Chi Minh with Labor Hero, former Minister of Health, Doctor Pham Ngoc Thach".

On behalf of the leadership and medical staff of the Central Lung Hospital, Dr. Dinh Van Luong, Director of the Hospital, respectfully introduces this photograph to Minister of Health Dao Hong Lan and the Deputy Ministers of Health, and expresses his pride and deep gratitude to the Labor Hero, the late Minister of Health, the brilliant scientist , Dr. Pham Ngoc Thach.

Vietnam's first Minister of Health was a shining example of patriotism, revolutionary spirit, selflessness, dedication to his profession, and a creative work ethic in managing public health and the specialized fields of tuberculosis and lung diseases.

The delegates recalled the immense contributions and sacrifices of the late Minister in the struggle for national liberation and in caring for the people's health. Dr. Pham Ngoc Thach dedicated his heart, strength, talent, and intellect, even sacrificing his personal happiness, to the revolutionary cause and the cause of caring for and protecting the people's health, especially his contributions and guiding principles that have remained relevant throughout the ages for the field of tuberculosis and lung diseases in Vietnam.

Minister of Health Dao Hong Lan respectfully reiterated the guiding principles and guidelines for the development of the health sector established by the late Minister Pham Ngoc Thach, which remain valid: closely integrating politics with expertise; ideology with organization; prevention with treatment; combining traditional medicine with modern medicine, medicine with pharmaceuticals, and Eastern medicine with Western medicine in disease prevention and treatment; and always upholding the principle of disease prevention, considering disease prevention as the primary task in health protection.

Minister Dao Hong Lan expressed that the photograph of President Ho Chi Minh with the late Minister of Health Pham Ngoc Thach has immense historical value.

On February 27, 1955, amidst the overwhelming workload of the Party and the nation, President Ho Chi Minh still showed deep affection for the then-nascent medical sector. He wrote a letter to doctors, in which he instructed the country's medical staff to uphold the spirit of unity, creating a strength of will and intellect to overcome difficulties and hardships, and to join the whole country in the victorious resistance war for national defense.

Those who inspire humanitarianism, compassion, and kindness in the Vietnamese medical profession must value medical ethics, truly embodying the principle that "A good doctor must be like a loving mother."

People also hope that the intelligence and enthusiasm of the country's doctors will work together to build and develop a medical system based on scientific, national, and popular principles, deeply rooted in national identity, and integrated with the civilization and modernity of world medicine.

Minister of Health Dao Hong Lan and the Deputy Ministers listened as Dr. Dinh Van Luong, Director of the Central Lung Hospital, introduced the photograph.

The late Minister Pham Ngoc Thach, along with many other pioneering leaders of the health sector, advocated for applying the latest scientific achievements from around the world to the circumstances and conditions of our country, and finding suitable techniques to train grassroots health workers.

Minister of Health Dao Hong Lan requested that, continuing that precious tradition, in the next phase, all health sector officials should continue to uphold the glorious tradition, innovate, and develop comprehensively. They should enrich the documentation of the health sector's traditions by promoting training and scientific research; building institutions; strengthening management capacity and improving professional quality and medical ethics; enhancing the capacity of grassroots healthcare; and continuing to work together to ensure better protection, care, and improvement of people's health, contributing to the nation's aspiration to rise in the new era...
