Following reports of suspected food poisoning at the Tram Anh chicken rice restaurant on Ba Trieu Street, Nha Trang City, Khanh Hoa Province, where many people experienced symptoms such as abdominal pain, nausea, diarrhea, and fever, and were being treated at local medical facilities, the Food Safety Department sent a document to the Khanh Hoa Department of Health.
Over 100 people suspected of food poisoning from Tram Anh chicken rice in Nha Trang have been hospitalized for treatment.
Specifically, the Food Safety Department requested the Khanh Hoa Provincial Department of Health to urgently direct medical facilities in the area to focus resources on actively treating patients, and if necessary, to request professional consultation support from higher-level hospitals.
Simultaneously, temporarily suspend operations at the suspected food poisoning facility, conduct an investigation to determine the exact cause of the food poisoning incident in accordance with regulations; collect food and biological samples and urgently send them to the nearest designated testing facility for analysis to determine the cause and publicly disclose the results to promptly warn the community.
The Food Safety Department also requested the Khanh Hoa Department of Health to direct relevant units to organize and coordinate the dissemination of information and education to the public on food safety knowledge and measures to prevent food poisoning, aiming to raise awareness and change behaviors and habits that do not ensure food safety in the selection and use of food, and to discourage the use of food without clear labels, origins, and sources.
According to a report from the Khanh Hoa Provincial Department of Health, as of March 14th, the total number of suspected food poisoning cases after eating chicken rice at Tram Anh restaurant was 222, of which 157 cases required hospitalization, and 55 cases were examined and prescribed medication to take home.
"Patients suspected of food poisoning who are currently receiving treatment all have stable vital signs and are conscious. A few patients still experiencing nausea and diarrhea have been transferred to Khanh Hoa Provincial General Hospital for treatment. In general, the cases are under professional control by medical facilities in Khanh Hoa," the report from the Khanh Hoa Provincial Department of Health stated.
