911 is an international band that once made the hearts of many generations of 80s and 90s kids flutter with many legendary hits such as: How Do You Want Me To Love You, A Little Bit More, Don't Make Me Wait,... and most notably, I Do.

This pop band originated in the United Kingdom with three members: Simon "Spike" Dawbarn, Lee Brennan, and Jimmy Constable. They formed the band in London in 1995 and disbanded in 2000.

In early 2023, the Vietnamese online community was abuzz when this once-popular idol band collaborated with singer Duc Phuc to release a Valentine's Day version of their music video "Em dong y (I do)". Just three days after its release, the MV garnered over 6 million views on YouTube and quickly reached the top of the trending list.

911 will be coming to Vietnam and performing for two nights in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City during the UK festival this September.

2023 marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the United Kingdom and Vietnam.

The British Embassy in Hanoi and the Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City have been organizing a series of activities themed "The United Kingdom and Vietnam: Building the Future Together," focusing on three main areas: Education , Trade, and Sustainable Development.

One of the key activities is a series of UK festivals in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, and Da Nang. The festivals will showcase UK culture, UK products and trade expertise, and celebrate the best possible partnership between the UK and Vietnam over the past five decades.

Music night in Hanoi

Specifically, the UK Festival in Hanoi will take place from 9 am to 10 pm on September 9th and 10th at Dong Kinh Nghia Thuc Square and Dinh Tien Hoang Street (Hoan Kiem District).

Over 60 booths and exhibition areas showcasing the UK's strengths in education, healthcare, financial services, retail, tourism, sustainable development, sports, culture, and cuisine participated in the festival in Hanoi.

The opening ceremony on the morning of September 9th was attended and addressed by the British Ambassador to Vietnam, Iain Fresh, and leaders of the Hanoi People's Committee.

The British Army band will perform Vietnamese and British songs on the pedestrian street every morning.

British Ambassador to Vietnam Iain Frew and Phan Anh (Esheep) will be demonstrating how to make British scones in the afternoons.

On the evening of September 9th, a music night will take place featuring the band 911, singer My Anh, singer Orange, DJ Johnny Harris from the UK, and Mindaniel from Vietnam.

On the morning of September 10th, the band 911 visited the UK Festival.

On the evening of the 10th, there will be a performance by the symphony orchestra and a fashion show.

Music night in Ho Chi Minh City

Meanwhile, the UK Festival in Ho Chi Minh City will take place from 9 am to 10 pm on September 16th on Le Loi Street (between Nguyen Hue and Pasteur streets, District 1) with more than 70 booths and exhibition areas showcasing the strengths of the United Kingdom in various fields.

The British Consul General and leaders of Ho Chi Minh City will speak at the opening ceremony. The British Ambassador, the British Consul General, and city leaders will tour the festival.

The cultural program will include performances by British schools and universities, a meet-and-greet with former Liverpool FC star Glen Johnson, a performance by the British Army Band, and a flashmob.

The music night featured performances by the band 911, the Vietnamese band Chillies, singer Vu Thanh Van, and DJ Anh.
