FIFA is being criticized by FIFPro. |
Marchi called it "the final wake-up call" for Gianni Infantino and the power structure in Zurich, who, according to him, "have forgotten that players are human beings, not tools."
Marchi wrote that the world of football remains stagnant despite countless promises. “A more humane football” exists only in speeches. In reality, players are still exploited in endless seasons, playing matches just days apart, constantly traveling, and without rest. He likened them to an “inexhausted resource,” used without protection.
FIFPro isn't just about physical fitness. Marchi highlighted the injustices thousands of players are suffering: unpaid wages, contract violations, and loss of opportunities for career development. He argued that FIFA "only talks and ignores," continuing to organize commercially driven tournaments regardless of extreme temperatures or unreasonable schedules.
The culmination of this frustration was the declaration: "I believe in dialogue, but I am ready for a fight." Marchi asserted that FIFPro would not remain silent in the face of "power lacking dignity" and demanded that FIFA be held accountable for its broken commitments.
In a football world dominated by money and broadcasting rights, FIFPro's voice reiterates a simple but essential point: football exists because of people, not commercial contracts.
