TPO - Viewers nationwide can watch "Red Rain" on the National Defense Television channel on the evening of December 20th and on VTV8 and VTV3 on December 21st.
After leaving theaters on September 29th, "Red Rain" premiered on television at 8:40 PM on December 20th on the Vietnam National Defense Television channel. Following that, the film continued to air on VTV8 at 7 PM and VTV3 at 9 PM on the same day, December 21st, to commemorate the 81st anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army (December 22nd, 1944 - December 22nd, 2025).
This is not only an opportunity for Red Rain to reach the public, but also contributes to spreading more deeply the humanistic and historical values that the film pursues.
Red Rain was released in theaters on August 22nd, coinciding with the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day on September 2nd, recreating the 81 tragic days and nights at Quang Tri Citadel. The film quickly became a box office sensation, continuously breaking milestones such as surpassing 100 billion VND in just three days, 200 billion VND after one week, and 500 billion VND within two weeks.
Red Rain became the highest-grossing Vietnamese film of all time, with revenue exceeding 700 billion VND and attracting over 8 million viewers to theaters.
According to experts, "Red Rain" breaks the stereotype that war and revolutionary films are "niche," creating an unprecedented appeal to audiences of all ages.
Recently, the film won the Golden Lotus Award for Best Feature Film and several other awards such as Best Visual Effects, Best Supporting Actor, and Best Sound Design at the 24th Vietnam Film Festival, receiving high praise for both its technical aspects and content.
Furthermore, "Red Rain" was selected as Vietnam's official representative for the Best International Film category at the 98th Academy Awards, making it onto the list of 86 international feature films eligible for consideration. Unfortunately, the film was not included in the recently announced shortlist for the Best International Film category at the 2026 Oscars.
After leaving the theater, "Red Rain" was screened free of charge at mobile screenings, local theaters, and historical sites to honor veterans and the people.
