In Nghe An province , a 40 kg black carp with a belly diameter of 40 cm and a length of over one meter was pulled up from the Khe La dam in Tan Ky district by four fishermen working together.
On the evening of June 15th, Le Khanh Hoa , 29 years old, residing in Thai Hoa town, along with three other anglers, were fishing at Khe La dam in Phu Son commune, Tan Ky district. Seeing the rod shaking violently, Hoa tried to pull it up but couldn't. "The fish was too big; it took four people working together, and after several tens of minutes, we finally managed to pull it ashore," Hoa said.
Previously, his group had spent six days fishing at the dam without catching a single fish. The fishermen are still freezing the fish, not selling them yet despite many people inquiring about buying them.

Mr. Nguyen Van Dung, Chairman of Phu Son commune, said this is the first time someone has caught a 40 kg black carp at Khe La dam. A few years ago, someone caught a large fish in this area, but it only weighed 20-30 kg.
The Khe La dam covers 54 hectares, with its deepest point at 20 meters, serving to irrigate hundreds of hectares of rice paddies in several communes in Tan Ky district. The authorities are currently allowing a household to bid for the right to raise fish in cages at the dam and open a recreational fishing service.
The black carp, scientifically known as Mylopharyngodon piceus , belongs to the carp family and can grow up to 1.5 meters long and weigh 60 kg. They feed on snails and mollusks in rivers, ponds, and lakes. Black carp are usually three times more expensive than white carp, with large ones costing around 150,000 VND/kg.
