When on a call, sometimes we need to hang up to do something else or simply disconnect for a moment. For those looking for a discreet and subtle way to end or reject a call on their iPhone without being considered rude, there's a rather interesting way to do it.
Sometimes users want to end or reject a call to do something else.

Pressing the red button on the iPhone to end a call will send a notification to the other party on their phone saying "Call ended." However, if the call is interrupted due to poor coverage, a "Call failed" message will appear. This is how we exploit this for our purposes, and to prevent call interruptions, users can utilize airplane mode.
Activating airplane mode will immediately interrupt the mobile connection, causing the call to end. On the caller's screen, the call will display "Call Failed," simulating a technical issue rather than an intentional action by the user.
To activate airplane mode while on a call, users can follow these steps:
- Swipe the screen: If your iPhone has a Home button, swipe up from the bottom of the screen. If there is no Home button, swipe down from the top right corner of the screen. This will open the Control Center on your iPhone.
- Activate airplane mode: Simply tap the airplane mode button (airplane icon) to turn it orange.
Using airplane mode would be the most "polite" way to decline a call.
- Check the connection: The green cellular signal button next to the airplane mode button will turn gray, indicating that the cellular network is turned off.
- Check the indicator: The mobile service provider name in the upper left corner will be replaced with an airplane icon, confirming that airplane mode is active.
When using this method, it's important to note that activating airplane mode will disrupt all network connections, including cell phone calls, text messages, and mobile data.
Additionally, this trick only works for calls that rely on a cellular network. If the call is made over Wi-Fi, the other party may still be connected and receive a "Call ended" message. In this case, the user needs to tap the blue Wi-Fi button in the Control Center to end the call over Wi-Fi.
