On the latest iPhone lineup, the iPhone Air, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max all come equipped with 12GB of RAM. This upgrade allows the devices to better handle tasks related to artificial intelligence (AI).

The standard iPhone 17 is currently the latest model that still maintains 8GB of RAM. According to The Bell , the standard iPhone 18 will be upgraded with 12GB of RAM, similar to the Pro versions.
Apple is reportedly working with Samsung to increase production of LPDDR5X memory chips for the next iPhone series. In addition, the company is also actively negotiating with partners SK Hynix and Micron to increase supply.
Since the release of the iPhone 4s in 2011, Apple has consistently introduced new phones in the fall. However, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo suggests that 2025 will be the last year that iPhones are released according to this normal schedule.
Starting in 2026, the iPhone release schedule will change. Kuo revealed that Apple will launch the iPhone 17e in the first half of 2026. This timeframe is similar to the recent launch of the iPhone 16e.
By the end of 2026, the company will unveil the premium versions of the iPhone 18 generation. These devices may include the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, iPhone 18 Slim, and a foldable iPhone. Note that the standard versions will not be introduced around this time.
Instead, the standard iPhone 18 will be introduced in the spring of 2027, about six months after the release of the iPhone 18 Pro. This would mark the first time a standard iPhone model of a generation doesn't launch at the same time as the higher-end versions.
