Could foldable iPhones experience delays similar to the iPhone X?

The foldable iPhone is becoming one of the most anticipated products launching this fall, but there may be bad news.

According to MacRumors , the foldable iPhone will not be released at the same time as the iPhone 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max as initially reported, although all three devices are expected to be introduced at the September event. Instead, the foldable iPhone may only be available on the market in December 2026.

Apple's history shows this isn't the first time a similar situation has occurred. In 2017, the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus were released in September, while users wanting the iPhone X had to wait until November due to high demand in the first few weeks.

Apple wants the foldable iPhone to be the most appealing option.

The foldable iPhone is expected to revolutionize the smartphone market thanks to its unique and distinctive design. Developing a foldable iPhone will be a major challenge for Apple, as the product is expected to become the best-selling foldable phone of the year. Manufacturing foldable devices is considered more complex, especially since this is Apple's first foray into this segment. Therefore, it's understandable that the company needs more time to prepare for the product launch to ensure the best possible results.

While many rumors suggest the first foldable iPhone will be priced very high, reaching $2,300 to make it the most expensive iPhone ever, recent reports indicate Apple is aiming for a starting price of around $2,000, a much lower figure to attract customers to the company's innovative new product line.

Previous rumors suggested that the iPhone 18 might be released later, most likely around March 2027. Besides the iPhone 18, there are other names like iPhone 18e and iPhone Air 2. The appearance of the iPhone Air 2 shows that Apple hasn't given up on the ultra-thin smartphone segment, which was considered unsuccessful after the first-generation iPhone Air.
