| Local authorities have put up warning signs and deployed guards to prevent people and vehicles from crossing the bridge. |
Immediately after the incident occurred, the People's Committee of Vinh Tuy commune directed functional forces to be present at the scene, organize barricades, erect warning signs, deploy security forces to guard the area 24/7, and reroute traffic to ensure the safety of the people. The local authorities temporarily suspended traffic across the bridge and advised people not to approach the dangerous area. The commune authorities requested residents of Thong Nhat, Khuoi Mu, Dong Ngan villages and households that frequently pass through the area to absolutely not cross the bridge in any way until further notice; not to gather or stand watching the scene, and to remind children to stay away from the bridge area.
The Vinh Hao suspension bridge was built in 2010 and put into operation in 2011. The bridge is 102 meters long, 3 meters wide, and has a design load capacity of 10 tons. It was once considered one of the suspension bridges with the highest load capacity in the former Ha Giang province.
