My world was confined to the pages of books, the times my mother scolded me for low test scores, and the afternoons spent sitting idly, unsure of what kind of person I would become in the future.
Until I felt a tremor in my heart from a gentle, smiling gaze. I started studying harder, wanting to sit next to you during group study sessions. I began trying harder on every assignment, because you were always looking at my grades. No one taught me to change. It was that pure feeling – though never confessed – that awakened something that had been dormant within me for too long: the desire to become a better person.
High school romances are fleeting. But they were the first spark that warmed me through those awkward days, helping me realize that only by changing could I move forward. I went to university, started working, faced challenges, and matured – all starting from the day I wanted "to look at him a little longer."
Years later, my childhood sweetheart became my life partner. Amidst the hustle and bustle of life, amidst times of hardship and uncertainty, we sometimes argued and felt exhausted. But then we held hands and moved forward together. Just like back then – when we were both students – we looked ahead together. Now, every time I see my child sleeping peacefully, I silently thank that first love from my school days. Because it was that love that shaped me into the strong man I am today.
