Visual Intelligence is essentially an intelligent technology that enables the iPhone camera to recognize and analyze objects within the frame. Users simply press and hold Camera Control to activate this mode.
When switched on, the camera will automatically recognize objects in front of the lens, such as restaurants, products, event posters, etc., and provide relevant information or appropriate action options.
The iPhone 16 will have an additional feature: Visual Intelligence.
When you scan a restaurant with your camera, Visual Intelligence will display detailed information about that restaurant, such as its address, menu, opening hours, and user reviews. Similarly, when you scan an advertising poster, this feature will provide links to purchase tickets, information about the event, or options to save the information.
Apple not only develops Visual Intelligence itself based on proprietary technologies but also collaborates with OpenAI and Google to expand the capabilities of this feature. This enhances the amount of information users can access when using the camera app, ensuring that the feature goes beyond image recognition and can provide diverse and rich information from reputable data sources.
Apple is expected to launch Visual Intelligence on the iPhone 16 later this year, possibly coinciding with the iOS 18.2 update. According to the schedule, iOS 18.2 will be the last major update of 2024.
