Can Tho will convert nearly 3,148 hectares of rice paddy land by 2026.

(CT) - The People's Committee of Can Tho City has just issued Decision No. 3201/QD-UBND on the plan for restructuring crop and livestock production on rice-growing land in the city in 2026. According to the decision, the total area of ​​rice land to be converted in 2026 is 3,147.9 hectares across 43 communes and wards; of which, 3,079.2 hectares are dedicated to rice cultivation and 68.8 hectares are single-crop rice land. The converted rice land will be used for annual crops, perennial crops, or a combination of rice cultivation and aquaculture.

The City People's Committee assigns the Department of Agriculture and Environment to preside over and coordinate with other departments, agencies, and the People's Committees of communes and wards to organize the implementation of the plan, ensuring that it adheres to the objectives, principles, and criteria as stipulated by current laws. Simultaneously, it is responsible for guiding, inspecting, and supervising the conversion; and compiling and reporting the results as required. The People's Committees of communes and wards are responsible for developing and issuing plans for the conversion of crop and livestock structures on rice-growing land within their jurisdiction, as stipulated, to be completed before December 30, 2025. Local authorities are responsible for implementing, guiding, inspecting, and supervising the conversion in accordance with regulations; promptly detecting and strictly handling cases of crop and livestock structure conversion that do not comply with regulations.
