
Can Tho City is converting inefficient rice-growing land to perennial crops, including many typical specialty crops such as durian.
The City People's Committee assigns the Department of Agriculture and Environment to preside over and coordinate with other departments, agencies, and the People's Committees of communes and wards to organize the implementation of the plan, ensuring that it adheres to the objectives, principles, and criteria as stipulated by current laws. Simultaneously, it is responsible for guiding, inspecting, and supervising the conversion; and compiling and reporting the results as required. The People's Committees of communes and wards are responsible for developing and issuing plans for the conversion of crop and livestock structures on rice-growing land within their jurisdiction, as stipulated, to be completed before December 30, 2025. Local authorities are responsible for implementing, guiding, inspecting, and supervising the conversion in accordance with regulations; promptly detecting and strictly handling cases of crop and livestock structure conversion that do not comply with regulations.
