The choral performance of "Following in the Footsteps of the Great Leader - The Glorious Fatherland" will open the competition program.
“Oh Uncle Ho! Oh Uncle Ho!/ Your name shines brightly forever in the mountains and rivers/ Bringing glory to the Vietnamese people/ We send you our deepest love and respect,” these are the final lines of the traditional folk song “ Ho Chi Minh , Your Name Shines Brightly,” composed by Viet An and sung by the artists Phuong Anh and Hong Giang. The folk song praises and expresses gratitude to the beloved President Ho Chi Minh with sweet, poignant Southern melodies. The emotional and lyrical performance by the two artists captivated the audience. This was also a highly anticipated performance by the Can Tho City unit in this year's festival.
Another meticulously crafted performance was the solo dance "Rice Making" ( music by Nhat Phuong, choreography by Minh Tuan). Through the language of dance, artists from the Can Tho City Cultural and Arts Center told the story of Thuan Hung rice paper making village, from the heavy, plump rice stalks, through the many stages of grinding, pounding, sifting, and winnowing, to the skillful and fragrant hands of the people of Can Tho, the Thuan Hung rice paper is born, becoming a local specialty. The seamless combination of movement, music, and lighting created an impressive and highly artistic performance.
Or, with his solo performance of the zither piece "Dạ cổ hoài lang," young artist Nguyễn Nghiệp immersed the audience in the rich pentatonic melodies of the South. The zither's rhythmic, delicate notes seemed to carry the voice of the heart and soul. These were three impressive performances in the overall program; in addition, the other two performances were equally impressive: the choral piece "Following in the Footsteps of the Great Leader - The Glorious Fatherland" and the song and dance medley " Cần Thơ, the Proud City - A New and Open Road."
The program ensures that the content and genres comply with the regulations of the Organizing Committee, most importantly adhering to the theme "Can Tho - Remembering Uncle Ho's Teachings". Through the performances, the artists convey the message of the people of Can Tho's deep affection for the beloved President Ho Chi Minh and the achievements of their homeland in the context of the country entering a new era - an era of national progress.
These days, artists from the Can Tho City Cultural and Arts Center are diligently practicing and perfecting their performances to be ready to compete in the hometown of President Ho Chi Minh this weekend. Given the significance of the competition and the message conveyed by the performances, the artists are very dedicated and striving to perform. Mr. Nguyen Thanh Phu, Director of the Can Tho City Cultural and Arts Center, said: "The competition program from Can Tho City meets the requirements of the Organizing Committee and reflects the unique identity and characteristics of the locality. The performing force mainly consists of artists and actors from the center, who have prepared thoroughly and quite early. By this time, the artists from Tay Do are ready to participate in 'The Song of Lang Sen Village,' joining artists nationwide in singing songs praising President Ho Chi Minh and celebrating his birthday."
