Carrick insists there is no conflict with Scholes.

In recent days, the British public has been abuzz with Paul Scholes' comments that Manchester United's performances under Michael Carrick have been abysmal. These comments appeared in a social media post following MU's defeat to Newcastle United – the team's first loss after an eight-match unbeaten run since Carrick took over.

However, Scholes quickly deleted the aforementioned post. The former Manchester United midfielder later claimed his comment had been misinterpreted.

Speaking at the Carrington training ground, Carrick took the initiative to defuse the public outcry. The Manchester United interim manager suggested that this was simply a consequence of misinformation being spread on social media.

"Nothing at all. Really nothing to talk about," Carrick said. "It's just the reality of social media these days, where quotes or headlines can be interpreted in many different ways. The important thing is to stay calm and understand the true meaning of things."

Carrick is increasingly earning praise for his conduct both on and off the pitch.

The former Manchester United midfielder also stressed that differing opinions are normal in football. "Everyone has the right to their own opinion. Sometimes things get pushed to one extreme or the other. That's just how it is. I'm not worried and I'm not making a big deal out of it," Carrick added.

Meanwhile, Nicky Butt revealed that his former Manchester United teammate was shocked and saddened by the public backlash. According to Butt, Scholes's statement was not actually intended to criticize Carrick. "Scholes meant that Manchester United are still getting good results even when the team isn't playing at its best. Luck is always a part of any manager's success," Butt explained.

In the podcast The Good, The Bad & The Football , Scholes also confirmed that he directly messaged Carrick to explain. The former midfielder, born in 1974, asserted that he had no intention of offending his former teammate, and added that Carrick was not offended by the incident.

Scholes emphasized that what he simply meant was that Manchester United haven't been particularly convincing in their recent matches, despite still achieving results. He also quoted Sir Alex Ferguson as saying that luck sometimes plays a crucial role in a team's success.
