Manager Michael Carrick confirmed that no final decision has been made regarding Marcus Rashford's future.

Michael Carrick has spoken out clearly for the first time about Marcus Rashford's future, and his comments quickly drew attention from Manchester United fans.

Rashford is currently playing for Barcelona on a one-season loan after no longer playing a key role at Old Trafford. The Spanish club has the option to buy the English striker outright for €30 million before June 15th.

However, Carrick said that nothing has been finalized yet.

“There are still decisions to be made, and Marcus is among them. But nothing is decided at this moment. There will be a suitable time to address it,” the English manager shared.

This statement means the door to a return to Manchester United is not yet closed for Rashford. The 28-year-old striker has two years left on his contract with the Old Trafford club and has never stated his desire to leave permanently.

Rashford, a product of the Manchester United academy, was once a rising star for the club and currently ranks 15th on the club's all-time leading goalscorer list. However, a recent dip in form led to him losing his place, before moving to Barcelona to seek new opportunities.

Carrick understands Rashford much better than many other coaches. He was a teammate, assistant, and interim manager to the striker during the transition period after Ole Gunnar Solskjær left the manager's position in 2021.

Therefore, Carrick's statement is seen as a positive sign for Rashford. As Manchester United prepares for a new rebuilding period, retaining a player who has come through the academy is always a viable option.

However, financial considerations are also a crucial factor. Co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe is looking to streamline the wage bill. If Casemiro leaves the team this summer, Rashford will become the highest-paid player at the club.

Carrick emphasized that he wants to work with all the players still on Manchester United's roster and try to maximize their potential. This suggests that Rashford is still part of his plans, at least for the time being.

The future of the English striker therefore remains uncertain. Barcelona have the option to buy him outright, Manchester United have not yet made a final decision, and Rashford still has a long-term contract.

In a summer promising many changes at Old Trafford, Rashford could become one of the most noteworthy stories.
