The story of digital transformation and artificial intelligence: From fear to life-changing opportunities.

One late afternoon in a field, Mr. Sau, an experienced farmer, stood silently watching the rice stalks swaying in the wind. This year, his rice crop was bountiful, and the price was high. Looking at the sacks of rice piled high in his warehouse, he couldn't help but think about the difficult years before, when crop failures and pests were constant worries. But then, a miracle changed everything.

It wasn't favorable weather. It wasn't a new crop variety. It was thanks to AI – artificial intelligence . Mr. Sau mused, At first, when I heard about artificial intelligence, I was terrified. Having lived more than half my life, I thought only humans possessed intelligence, not machines. What do machines know about farming? But now it's different; thanks to it, I work less but achieve more.” Mr. Sau's story is also the story of millions of farmers, who initially thought that artificial intelligence was only for engineers, scientists , the wealthy, or the elite.

When farmers and artificial intelligence work together in the fields.

In the past, every harvest season, Mr. Sau had to worry about a hundred things: from water, fertilizer, pests, to selling the rice. For many years, he suffered from the situation of a good harvest but low prices, or high prices but a poor harvest . But then, his son, a young engineer who had just returned home, said to him , " Dad, we in the city are using artificial intelligence for business, so why don't we try using it for farming ? "

It sounded strange, but after trying it a few times, he gradually realized that everything could change thanks to artificial intelligence. "It" helps predict the weather by analyzing climate data to accurately predict when to sow rice seedlings and when to harvest to avoid storms and floods. "It" helps detect pests and diseases early; simply by taking a picture of the rice plant, it will analyze and immediately report what disease the plant has and what pesticides are needed. "It" calculates the optimal amount of water and fertilizer, helping farmers use the right amount, saving costs and protecting the land. After the first trial season, Mr. Sau's rice fields saved 30% of water, reduced fertilizer use by 40%, and yielded significantly higher productivity.

Artificial intelligence helps farmers work less and more efficiently .

Previously, during each harvest season, Mr. Sau's family had to work tirelessly, harvesting, drying, and milling the rice. But now, with artificial intelligence and automated machinery, with just a few taps on his phone, he can know exactly when the rice is ripe for harvesting and connect directly with traders, selling the rice at the best price right in the field. He shared with the farmers in his village: "In the past, I thought farming meant getting your hands dirty and working hard. Now it's different; farming can be just like being an engineer. We farmers have nothing to fear!"

Places that have been successful in applying artificial intelligence in agriculture.

Every day, Mr. Sau reads the news and learns that artificial intelligence has been applied to agriculture worldwide for a long time, achieving surprising results. Using AI to precisely adjust irrigation water down to the drop helps increase productivity without expanding cultivated land. AI helps farmers analyze soil and select the best varieties for each region, increasing income without incurring additional costs. AI can predict coffee yields based on weather and soil moisture analysis, helping farmers sell their produce at better prices.

And he received advice from experts: " Those who know how to utilize artificial intelligence will master the game. Those who miss out will be left behind." Mr. Sau was determined not to be left behind, because he always thought: "What others can do, I must be able to do too." Today's farmers are not just "expert farmers" but "knowledgeable farmers."

Artificial intelligence is the key to unlocking a new future.

One afternoon, looking back at the fields laden with grain, Mr. Sau smiled: " Before, I thought machines would replace farmers. Now I understand, whoever knows how to use machines will win." Now, farmers have two choices: either continue farming as before with the hardships, risks, and dependence on nature; or embrace artificial intelligence to master their farming work and have a better life.

Previously, Mr. Sau had to rely on the sky, the land, and the clouds, yet still couldn't predict the harvest. Now, thanks to a data analysis system, he can know exactly when to sow rice seedlings to avoid drought and floods, predict yields, and save on fertilizer and irrigation water. He used to think artificial intelligence was only for city engineers, but now he understands that AI will become a valuable companion for farmers .

From the fields to the administrative apparatus

A few kilometers away, in the commune's People's Committee office, Mr. Hung, an administrative officer, is very busy. The thick stacks of files and cumbersome procedures that once frustrated the people have now been digitized and processed quickly in minutes using artificial intelligence. Mr. Sau recalled: " Before, people who wanted to get a land title or register their household had to run back and forth for a whole month. Now, they can go online, enter the information, and the system automatically searches and reports the results immediately ." From the fields, artificial intelligence is entering the administrative apparatus, helping the government operate more smoothly, more transparently, and better serve the people.

When artificial intelligence helps make the administrative system more effective, efficient, and effective.

Mr. Hung recalled his early days as an official: “Back then, I received dozens of people every day , and everyone complained about the cumbersome procedures and complicated paperwork. I was tired, and the people suffered too.” But then, the Digital Assistant changed everything. Automated document processing allowed people to submit applications online, check information, cross-reference data, and reduce processing time. People only needed to stay at home and send a text message to receive detailed instructions immediately. People could monitor the system's operations, track the review process, and reduce delays in processing applications. Importantly, there was no longer the dependence on working hours as before, when farmers were always busy with their fields.

Should we wait or be brave enough to take action?

One morning, as he opened the rice field monitoring app on his phone, Mr. Sau burst out laughing: " Before, I was very afraid of artificial intelligence. Now I know, 'it' doesn't replace me in plowing the fields, but 'it' helps me take control of my own land." For us farmers, artificial intelligence has become a friend of the farmer; I've nicknamed that friend "Mr. Ba Knows It All."

At the same time, Mr. Hung received a message from an elderly woman: " Thank you, officer, thanks to the online service, I no longer have to travel so far ! " Both, an elderly farmer and a young administrative employee, understood that digital transformation and artificial intelligence were not something too far-fetched, but rather tools to help people live better, work more efficiently, and for society to function more smoothly.

Mr. Sau looked around the field and noticed the wind blowing. He thought of kites that fly high because they fly against the wind, not with it. He recalled someone saying , "The most terrifying thing for a human being is fear." Now he was no longer afraid; on the contrary, he had become friends with artificial intelligence, with his friend Mr. Ba Know-It-All. Mr. Sau and Mr. Hung both realized that " Technology creates new opportunities that we never thought of."

It is said that every weekend afternoon, in a "basic literacy" class on digital transformation and artificial intelligence applications, an elderly farmer and a young administrative staff member diligently study together. They learn so as not to be left behind, and the more they learn, the more passionate they become because "it" helps improve their lives and work. Beside them are two close friends: Mr. Ba Know-It-All and the Digital Assistant .

The class ended when it was already dark. Mr. Sau and Minh walked side by side along the village road and suddenly noticed some bright lights in the sky.
