Having played a part in Vietnam U23's victory over the Philippines U23 in the semi-finals of the 2025 Southeast Asian U23 Championship, Nguyen Phi Hoang remains cautious when assessing the opponent. He believes the Philippines is a strong team. The most important thing for Vietnam U22 when facing them is to stay focused and fight with the highest spirit.
Speaking about the preparation for the semi-final match against the U22 Philippines, Phi Hoang said: “Currently, we haven't done in-depth research on our opponent. The whole team is always focused and trying to follow the tactics given by the coaching staff. The whole team will train actively and talk more to prepare as best as possible for the upcoming match.”

After reaching the semi-finals of the SEA Games 33, the Vietnam U22 team returned to light training. Coach Kim Sang-sik divided the squad into two groups. The group of players who played more than 60 minutes yesterday only performed stretching and relaxation exercises, and the head coach analyzed and reviewed tactical details from the previous match right on the field.
The remaining group trained with higher intensity, focusing on strengthening their physical fitness, improving their attacking coordination, and organizing their defense.
The Vietnam U22 team will have two more days to finalize their preparations for the semi-final match. The goal for coach Kim Sang Sik and his team is to qualify for the final of the men's football tournament at the 33rd SEA Games.
