War veterans join hands to build new countryside

The provincial Association of War Veterans plays a core role in implementing the national target program on new rural construction with many practical activities, promoting the pioneering role of its members.

Delegates focused on discussing at the conference to review the work of the provincial War Veterans Association in the first 6 months of 2025.

Through mobilizing social resources, the association at all levels has encouraged members and people to participate in building many meaningful projects, such as people's bridges, cultural residential areas, toilets, lighting systems, housing for poor households, etc.

In the period of 2020-2025, the association at all levels has mobilized over 24 billion VND, of which war veteran members contributed nearly 4 billion VND and thousands of working days; donated more than 155,000m2 of land for land acquisition; participated in renovating and upgrading nearly 200km of rural roads, hundreds of km of intra-field canals, contributing to completing the rural infrastructure system in a synchronous and spacious manner. More than 70 war veteran households with difficult housing circumstances have been supported to build new and repair houses, with a total cost of over 5.6 billion VND.

The Association of War Veterans also actively participates in environmental protection. The Association at all levels has established and maintained 93 clubs and self-managed environmental groups with war veterans as the core, with nearly 4,000 members. The Association at all levels regularly maintains environmental sanitation on 280km of roads, 8km of coastline and many forest areas. Each month, more than 50 tons of waste are collected and treated by members in accordance with regulations; hundreds of thousands of new trees of all kinds are planted and cared for, contributing to creating a green, clean, beautiful landscape and raising community awareness in environmental protection.

Members of the Veterans Association of Ha Phong ward (Ha Long city) participated in building "House of comradeship" for members in difficult circumstances.

Associations at all levels focus on supporting economic development for members. The "3 helps" movement (capital support, seed support, technical support) has been effectively implemented. From 2021 to present, more than 2,300 poor war veteran members have been able to maintain and develop production from the "3 helps" movement; many local models and products such as Binh Lieu vermicelli, Tien Yen chicken, Dam Ha ca sat... have been systematically invested in and developed, becoming a stable livelihood for many war veteran families.

The association at all levels has built and maintained more than 2,400 self-managed people's groups on security and order with war veterans as the core. The groups have closely coordinated with functional forces to effectively resolve thousands of conflicts and disputes among the people, reform wrongdoers, maintain security at the grassroots level, and contribute to building a safe, united, and affectionate living environment. At the same time, they have actively mobilized support for funds for natural disaster prevention, for the poor, for education promotion, and for people with revolutionary contributions (over 18 billion VND), deeply demonstrating the spirit of "mutual love" and camaraderie.

Vice Chairman of the Provincial Veterans Association Tran Dinh Trach said: The Association has synchronously deployed many solutions, first of all, promoting propaganda work, raising awareness for cadres, members and people, through exciting emulation movements such as "Exemplary veterans", "Veterans help each other reduce poverty, do good business", "Light up the country roads", " Quang Ninh veterans join hands to build new rural areas"... Thereby, gradually creating positive changes in awareness and action among members, linking the responsibility of people to each village and hamlet.

The Association focuses on reviewing and adjusting the action program to suit the reality of each locality, prioritizing communes in remote, mountainous, border and island areas, where there are many difficulties in resources and conditions for accessing policies; strengthening coordination with the Provincial Social Policy Bank, creating conditions for members to borrow preferential loans to develop production; mobilizing members, businesses and people to actively participate in building new rural areas, creating strong community resources.

The work of inspection, supervision and social criticism is carried out seriously, ensuring the implementation of the national target program on building new rural areas and sustainable poverty reduction achieves real results. The Association regularly coordinates with the Armed Forces, the Youth Union, the Fatherland Front and socio-political organizations to promote the combined strength in propaganda, traditional education, building a national defense posture associated with a solid people's security posture...
