The family of Mr. Dieu Co is one of the ethnic minority households that have benefited from the policies of the Party, the State, and Dong Nai province dành for ethnic minorities, including programs to support ethnic minorities in settling down and accessing education .
The joy of having a stable place to live has come to ethnic minority communities.
In the implementation of ethnic affairs, the ethnic policies of the Party, the State, and Dong Nai province, as well as social welfare work, ethnic minorities are a top priority in the implementation of preferential policies. Specifically, in 2025, Dong Nai province built more than 1,000 sturdy houses for poor, near-poor, and disadvantaged households. Of these, nearly 200 houses were handed over to ethnic minority families facing housing difficulties to live in.
To ensure that the houses of ethnic minorities in Dong Nai province meet basic living needs after completion, the province combines initial resources with the "three-in-one" model during construction, involving: family, clan, and local community. As a result, each completed house is always worth more than the initial support of 80 million VND.
Mr. Nong Van Truc (residing in Hamlet 7, Dak Lua Commune) said: His family is considered disadvantaged in the locality and is unable to build a solid house on their own. Thanks to the province's support, his family received 80 million VND to build a house. During the construction process, family members and friends helped with labor and resources.
Along with supporting ethnic minority communities in settling down, it is also important to create opportunities for their children to study. Currently, nine ethnic boarding schools at various levels in the province are educating more than 45,000 ethnic minority students.
At the 2025 Conference to Commend Ethnic Minority Teachers, Students, and Pupils in Dong Nai Province, organized by the Provincial People's Committee, Mr. Le Truong Son, Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee and Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, emphasized: To further improve the quality of education and training for children of ethnic minorities, departments, agencies, and localities should focus on effectively implementing the National Target Program for socio -economic development in ethnic minority and mountainous areas for the period 2021-2030, especially projects related to education, training, and human resource development.
According to Deputy Director of the Department of Ethnic Minorities and Religion Nguyen Van Khang, students from ethnic minority communities benefit from preferential policies of the State regarding accommodation, tuition fee exemption or reduction, Tet holiday support, provincial commendation for good academic achievements, and access to policy-based capital for education… This contributes to making the path to school easier for ethnic minority students.
Ly Quoc Duy (a Dao ethnic minority student in 12th grade at the Dong Nai Provincial Ethnic Boarding High School) shared: "Thanks to the practical support policies of the State and the province; and the encouragement and expectations of my family, I have strived and persevered to maintain the title of excellent student for many consecutive years, winning first prize in the 12th grade English Provincial Excellent Student Competition. I will strive to have the opportunity to find a good job in the future, build a family life, and contribute to society."
Focus on social welfare activities.
To contribute to ensuring stable housing for ethnic minority communities, in addition to the cases already listed for potential financial support for house construction and repair, the Department of Ethnic Minorities and Religions, along with local authorities, will continue to review cases to ensure no one in need of housing assistance is overlooked. Simultaneously, efforts will be intensified to connect social resources to organize social welfare programs for ethnic minority communities, including the construction of sturdy houses.
According to Venerable Nun Thich Nu Dieu Tri, Deputy Head of the Executive Board of the Vietnam Buddhist Association in Dong Nai province: Through the connection of the Fatherland Front and its member organizations, the commune-level government, and the Executive Board of the Vietnam Buddhist Association in Dong Nai province, they continue to coordinate social welfare programs, including helping people build houses. The focus of these activities is to support ethnic minority communities in difficult circumstances and people in border communes.
In addition, the province has developed and implemented many policies for ethnic minority students. Specifically, according to the Project for Comprehensive Investment and Development of Teaching and Learning Quality in 8 Border Communes of Dong Nai Province until 2030, with a vision to 2045, in the period 2025-2027, the province will allocate nearly 1.2 trillion VND to invest in schools in these 8 border communes in a synchronized and modern manner, focusing on teacher training and development, application of information technology, and digital transformation. These schools have a large number of ethnic minority children enrolled, so the project will contribute to improving the quality of teaching and learning in ethnic minority areas, creating a high-quality workforce for these regions.
