On Monday morning, after the flag-raising ceremony according to the Scout troop's protocol, Pham Phu Thu Primary School (Nong Son commune) organized experiential activities based on the monthly theme and topic.
According to Mr. Nguyen Dinh Tung, the school principal, in parallel with teaching, during the flag-raising ceremony, the school introduces good and useful books for students to read.
This helps students access a wide variety of books, fostering a passion for reading to expand their knowledge, develop life skills, and nurture their souls.
The school has also built a friendly library model called "Room to Read." This is a haven for book lovers. The library has an area of 100m² with over 800 books, arranged on shelves according to the color of each grade level, scientifically organized, with a research corner, a drawing corner, games, and a wide variety of books arranged systematically so that students can easily find and exchange them.
Upon entering the library, students were very enthusiastic, and the reading movement in the school spread widely from there.
Also in Nong Son commune, recently, the community bookshelf program "Paying it Forward" in Ho Chi Minh City organized a launch ceremony for the "Paying It Forward" bookshelf at Nguyen Dinh Hien Primary School, awarding 10 scholarships to students from disadvantaged backgrounds, donating a medical first-aid kit, and organizing many impressive book-related activities.
At Kim Dong Primary School (Thang Binh commune), students role-play characters from textbooks and tell stories about their favorite books. They also participate in activities such as donating books to underprivileged students and other engaging book-related experiences to encourage a love of reading, thereby contributing to improving the quality of teaching and learning in the school.
To inspire a reading culture, spread knowledge, and nurture the souls of the younger generation, Nguyen Chi Thanh Primary and Secondary School (Thu Bon commune) established the "Creating a Reading Culture" Club.
Mr. Pham Phu Cuong, the school's head of the Youth Union, said: "I participated in the reading culture building skills training courses organized by Education Vietnam."
Therefore, I want to introduce good books to nurture the soul, enhance knowledge, and stimulate imagination and creativity in teenagers and children."
Beyond simply reading aloud, to foster positive changes in students' reading culture, schools have flexibly organized many effective models such as drawing, writing essays, storytelling, and performing short plays.
This innovative format serves as a reminder and encouragement for children to engage with books, so that they can "join books in the era of national progress."
