Worthy of the title "Soldiers of Uncle Ho"
At the conference summarizing 10 years of implementing Directive No. 05-CT/TW, dated May 15, 2016, of the Politburo on promoting the study and emulation of Ho Chi Minh's thought, morality, and style, organized by the Party Committee of the Border Guard Command of Hue City, hundreds of officers and soldiers from the command headquarters and units on both border lines gathered with a range of emotions: solemnity, pride mixed with joy and emotion… as abundant documentary images in videos projected on large screens “recreated” the tireless steps of the officers and soldiers on every path along the border.
These are the journeys through forests and across streams to patrol border markers, braving the waves to patrol at sea; the silent, arduous steps on the front lines of drug and crime prevention. These are the layers of sweat that have faded the uniforms as soldiers brave the sun to help people repair their homes; wading through floods and natural disasters, carrying the elderly and children, helping to move people's belongings to safety; shouldering the burden of helping local forces reinforce eroded dikes along the coast, overcoming the consequences of natural disasters, and helping people in border areas to stabilize their lives as soon as possible…
Over the past period, 100% of the national border markers have been patrolled, with 1,300 patrols involving nearly 6,200 officers, soldiers, and civilians. The city's Border Guard Force coordinated with the Lao border protection force to conduct 89 bilateral patrols involving over 2,000 people; conducted nearly 4,000 coastal patrols involving nearly 20,000 officers and soldiers; and organized 15 patrols in the sea area involving nearly 300 officers and soldiers...
Countless sorties have been made out to sea, whether in the middle of the night or the early morning, to rescue fishermen in distress at sea due to storms or sudden serious illnesses while earning their living, promptly saving their lives. “The image of border guards, undeterred by danger, rushing into strong currents, storms, or braving rough seas to rescue and protect the lives and property of the people, leaves a deep and positive impression on the people, further enhancing the qualities of ‘Uncle Ho’s Soldiers’ in the new era. Among them, the Staff Department, Huong Nguyen Border Guard Post, Thuan An Port Border Guard Post, Chan May Port Border Guard Post, and Border Guard Squadron 2 are exemplary units,” shared Colonel Hoang Minh Hung, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Commander of the City Border Guard.
Letters of gratitude, written with heartfelt emotion and sincere appreciation from fishermen from provinces affected by accidents in the waters off Thua Thien Hue (now Hue City), are cherished and preserved at the Command Headquarters, Thuan An Port Border Guard Station, Border Guard Squadron 2, etc., multiplying over time, like "Medal of Courage" awarded by the people to the Hue City Border Guard force; recognizing them as worthy "Ho Chi Minh's soldiers".
Developing border areas to become increasingly prosperous.
According to Colonel Hoang Minh Hung, the continuous efforts of each unit and individual to learn from President Ho Chi Minh are an effective "lever" to excellently fulfill the tasks entrusted by the Party and the People. The promotion of studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, ethics, and style within the city's Border Guard force has been implemented by agencies and units with many practical methods, creating strong changes, widespread impact, and positive results, contributing to the successful fulfillment of political tasks; worthy of being the core, specialized force in managing and protecting the national border and border areas, from managing and protecting the border line and national boundary markers; managing and controlling at border gates; and maintaining security, order, and social safety.
With the spirit of "Uncle Ho's soldiers," the agencies and units within the city's Border Guard Force have effectively implemented the emulation movement "Border Guard Force joins hands to build new rural areas" associated with "The whole country joins hands for the poor - no one left behind," "The whole country joins hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses," etc. The Border Guard Force has promoted the role of cadres participating in local Party committees, cadres seconded to serve as deputy secretaries of commune Party committees, and Party members participating in activities at Party branches, villages, and hamlets in border areas; actively advising and implementing many programs and models to help people develop socio-economic conditions...
Typically, the city's Border Guard has contributed over 20,000 man-days to repairing and upgrading damaged schools, building rural roads, assisting the people in flood and storm prevention; donating 87 homes, houses for comrades, solidarity houses, 2 classrooms, over 15,000 gifts, over 6,000 seedlings and livestock; sponsoring 77 students in the "Helping Children Go to School" and "Children Adopted by Border Guard Posts" programs, and 188 children in the "Army Officers and Soldiers Helping Children Go to School" project… with a value of tens of billions of VND, contributing to the increasingly developed border area.
