Goodbye, my hometown.

Sometime after Tet, migrant workers rush off again, many filled with mixed feelings of sadness and reluctance to return home for Tet the following year.

Goodbye, my hometown.

But after Tet, there's another group of people saying "Goodbye, homeland" as they set off – the young recruits. They're reluctant to leave, but not at all sentimental. Those leaving are excited, those staying behind are hopeful. The annual national farewell ceremony for young men of military age, as they depart to join the army, is always filled with emotion.

At the beginning of each recruitment season in Thanh Hoa province in recent years, hundreds of volunteer applications to enlist have been submitted, written with touching words: "Youth on the training ground is the most beautiful, passionate, and dedicated period of life for the Fatherland." Many young people understand that joining the army is to serve the Fatherland and the people. They go to serve so they can return stronger and more capable. Therefore, while still saying "Goodbye, homeland," their farewell is different, full of pride and enthusiasm.

In recent years, many factories have sprung up in Thanh Hoa province, creating numerous job opportunities in rural areas. People from Thanh Hoa are leaving farming, but they are no longer leaving their hometowns. The crowds of people rushing off on buses after Tet to return to their workplaces are largely gone. Many have chosen their hometowns as their new job destinations. Basic incomes remain secure, and the labor market balance across regions is no longer disrupted. The farewell "Goodbye, home" from workers after Tet is no longer a somber note in the social landscape.

All we hear now is the farewell, "Goodbye, homeland," as we depart, returning with great pride to the national military enlistment ceremony after the full moon of the first lunar month. The new recruits set off with the belief that upon fulfilling their duty, they will return to build their homeland. At that time, their backpacks, as they embark on their journey to establish themselves and build their careers, will contain many more things they have accumulated in the military environment.

The contrasting emotions of returning home after Tet (Lunar New Year) show that over the years, the province and its various sectors and localities have done very well in two areas: firstly, they have strived to create job opportunities for workers by attracting investment to the province; and secondly, they have done a good job in ideological work, awakening the sense of duty among those of military age, as well as effectively implementing the military support policy, giving young people and their families more confidence and encouragement to enlist in the army.
