On the evening of May 19, Vinh Cuu District Police said that the fire in the sawdust and plywood factory had been contained, but many properties had been completely burned.
Before that, at more than 16 pm on the same day, workers discovered smoke and fire rising from the sawdust and plywood factory in Vam hamlet, Thien Tan commune, Vinh Cuu district.
In just a few minutes, the fire engulfed the whole factory, the smoke column was hundreds of meters high. Many houses nearby had to move their belongings in the thick smoke.
Received the news, 50 fire police and 8 specialized vehicles arrived at the scene, organized many directions to put out the fire. To prevent the fire from spreading to companies and residential areas, the fire police pumped water to the area behind the workshop.
By 20 pm, the fire was basically extinguished. No one was injured in the fire, but everything inside was destroyed.
