According to Oddity Central, the French luxury brand ST Dupont crafted a Louis XIII Fleur de Parme cigar lighter at the special request of Steven Hung, a billionaire in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (China). The billionaire has a passion for French history. His stringent requirements led ST Dupont to realize that this project could only be completed by a designer with in-depth knowledge of French culture and history.
That's why the brand chose Princess Tania de Bourbon Parme, a direct descendant of King Louis XIII and a renowned designer, to complete the masterpiece. Accordingly, Princess Parme spent six months working with a team of 80 artisans to create this work of art worthy of the title " the world's most expensive cigar lighter."

Inspired by the Baroque style of the Louis XIII era, the Louis XIII Fleur de Parme lighter is designed as a royal gold crown set on a decorative base. This "one-of-a-kind" lighter is made from 400 grams of solid gold and adorned with 152 sapphires totaling 41 carats.
Launched in 2013, the Louis XIII Fleur de Parme was recognized by the Guinness Book of Records as the world's most expensive cigar lighter, priced at $500,000. To this day, more than 10 years later, it still holds that title.
To satisfy the luxury collecting habits of the wealthy, ST Dupont also created at least 31 smaller replicas of the Louis XIII Fleur de Parme, selling them for $15,900 each.
The ST Dupont brand also boasts another masterpiece: the world's most expensive cigarette lighter, the Ligne 2 Champagne. This lighter attracted media attention in 2009 due to its shocking price tag of over $79,000. The Ligne 2 Champagne is made from 18K white gold and decorated with 468 diamonds.
