Before the 2022 Army Special Forces Military Sports Festival, although he had just recovered from surgery to treat a knee injury, Nguyen Viet Hung quickly returned to join his teammates in training and competition. He regularly advised and proposed to the unit commander good methods and practices to help improve the quality of training and competition. At the sports festival, not only did Nguyen Viet Hung excel in his individual competitions, his outstanding efforts were also an example for his teammates to learn from and follow, contributing to bringing the unit second place overall.

Special combat martial arts is the core content in the training work at the 18th Special Forces Battalion. Clearly identifying this, in addition to mastering and mastering the martial arts content according to the unit's training curriculum, Nguyen Viet Hung also proactively researched and learned other martial arts content to improve his level and skills, meeting the requirements and assigned tasks. Having a firm grasp of the unit's specific tasks, he advised the Party Committee and unit commander to implement the model "9th Martial Arts Hour". Accordingly, after the regular training hours, the fighters will be trained and practiced outside of regular hours to continue to improve their martial arts level. After a period of implementation, the model has contributed to improving the quality of martial arts training in the unit.
