According to the National Center for Meteorological and Hydrological Forecasting, yesterday afternoon and evening (October 12), the Southern region experienced scattered showers and thunderstorms, with some areas experiencing heavy rain. Rainfall amounts from 1 PM to 7 PM on October 12 exceeded 50mm in some areas, such as: Bac Dong (Tien Giang) 79.2mm, Tay Ninh City (Tay Ninh) 65.6mm, Phu Thanh ( Dong Thap ) 61.8mm, Ben Cat (Binh Duong) 57.0mm, etc.
The forecast for this afternoon and evening (October 13th) indicates scattered showers and thunderstorms in the Southern region, with some areas experiencing heavy rain, with rainfall amounts ranging from 10-30mm, and some areas exceeding 50mm.
During thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning, and strong gusts of wind. Localized heavy rainfall may cause flooding in low-lying areas; flash floods on small rivers and streams, and landslides on slopes.

Meanwhile, regarding the weather forecast for Ho Chi Minh City in mid-October, the Southern Regional Hydrometeorological Station stated that the continental cold high pressure system is currently stable in intensity and will gradually weaken from around October 14-15.
The equatorial trough is expected to become active again around October 15-16 and slowly shift its axis northward. Upper-level easterly wind disturbances (causing rain) are active over the Southern region. Over the Southern seas, northeasterly winds are weak.
Based on the aforementioned weather patterns, the Southern Region Meteorological and Hydrological Station forecasts that Ho Chi Minh City in mid-October will generally experience scattered to widespread rain and showers. There is a possibility of widespread rain, with some areas experiencing moderate to heavy rainfall lasting for several days. The total rainfall is expected to be higher than the average for the same period in previous years, ranging from 90 to 160 mm.
"During thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning, and strong gusts of wind. Be prepared for the possibility of heavy rain causing localized flooding in low-lying areas and areas with poor drainage," the Southern Vietnam Regional Meteorological and Hydrological Station warned.
