Thunderstorms in Ho Chi Minh City at the end of August

TPO - Currently, the Southwest monsoon is operating with increasing intensity. Therefore, in the last week of August, rain in Ho Chi Minh City and the Southern region will increase, with the possibility of widespread rain with moderate to heavy rain in some places.

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, the weather in the Southern region today (August 25) is cloudy with scattered showers and thunderstorms, with scattered showers and thunderstorms in the late afternoon and evening, and some places with heavy rain. The lowest temperature is from 24 to 27 degrees Celsius, the highest is from 31 to 34 degrees Celsius.

This afternoon and evening, the Southern region will have scattered showers and thunderstorms, locally heavy rain with rainfall from 15 - 30mm, locally over 60mm. Thunderstorms may include tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind.

Meanwhile, the weather forecast for the Ho Chi Minh City area in the last days of August, the Southern Hydrometeorological Station said that the Southwest monsoon is currently operating with increasing intensity. Above, the subtropical high pressure with an axis across the Central region is weakening, at the same time forming a low pressure trough with an axis passing through the South Central and Southern regions.

It is forecasted that in the last week of August, there will be a significant increase in rain in Ho Chi Minh City and the South. There is a possibility of widespread rain with moderate to heavy rain in some places. Beware of tornadoes, lightning, localized heavy rain and strong gusts of wind during thunderstorms.

“Total rainfall is approximately the average of many years in the same period, commonly from 80 - 130mm. The average temperature of the area is 0.2 - 0.7 degrees Celsius higher than the average of many years in the same period,” forecasted the Southern Hydrometeorological Station.
