On October 29, in Hanoi, a delegation of the Thai Journalists Federation led by Mr. Nakorn Veerapravati, President of the Thai Journalists Federation, visited and worked with the Vietnam Journalists Association .
Pleased to welcome representatives of the Thai Journalists Federation to visit and work with the Association, Party Central Committee member and President of the Vietnam Journalists Association Le Quoc Minh said that the visit and work in Vietnam of the Thai Journalists Federation contributed to further strengthening the close relationship between the press of the two countries, as well as the friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Thailand.
Within the framework of the working session, the two sides held talks to discuss and share a number of issues related to press activities and the general situation of the country that both sides are interested in.
Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists Association Le Quoc Minh said: In recent times, Vietnam has carried out a revolution in streamlining the political system. Therefore, the number of provinces, cities, ministries and branches has decreased significantly compared to before. Also due to that arrangement, the number of press agencies, journalists and members has also decreased.
However, Vietnamese press agencies still operate normally and effectively. Information and propaganda work is actively maintained by the press, always focusing on fighting against false information, distorting the Party and State's policies and guidelines, causing public confusion.
The press is currently facing a rather complicated situation of false information from social networks. In that context, the Vietnam Journalists Association as well as domestic press agencies have taken many actions to prevent and repel it with quality press works with profound content to "decode fake news", helping the public understand the nature of the matter.
Along with that, the Vietnamese press is also promoting digital transformation, applying modern technologies and big data to detect fake news trends; enhancing training for reporters and editors in skills of source verification, criticism and digital communication.
Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists Association Le Quoc Minh said that, in the face of the strong development of science , technology and many complex regional issues, the Vietnam Journalists Association wishes to strengthen cooperation with the Thai Journalists Federation, to jointly solve problems such as: fake news, environmental information, trafficking of women and children... The two sides can share experiences in verifying information, training journalists in skills to identify and refute fake news, as well as building a coordination mechanism in regional media.
Through this cooperation, the press of the two countries will contribute to raising public awareness, promoting accurate and objective information on environmental issues, aiming towards sustainable development and enhancing the social responsibility of the media.
Agreeing with the issues of mutual concern and discussion during the talks, Mr. Nakorn Veerapravati, President of the Federation of Thai Journalists, suggested that the press of the two countries should have more frequent exchanges and cooperation in the coming time; at the same time, plan and organize specific programs to create opportunities for press agencies and reporters of the two countries to have more opportunities to learn, share experiences and knowledge.../.
