Strengthening cooperation between Lai Chau and China's Yunnan province

On the afternoon of October 29, in Lai Chau , Lai Chau Provincial Party Secretary Le Minh Ngan had a working session with Mr. Vuong Ninh, Secretary of Yunnan Provincial Party Committee (China) on maintaining and developing friendly neighborly relations with Yunnan province, promoting people-to-people exchange activities between the two sides.

In order to effectively implement the Joint Statement between Vietnam and China on continuing to deepen the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership, promoting the building of a community of shared future between Vietnam and China of strategic significance, the common perceptions of the leaders of the two Parties and the two States, and at the same time promoting the cooperative relationship between the two provinces in the coming time, the Secretary of the Lai Chau Provincial Party Committee proposed that the two sides continue to strengthen the direction of relevant levels and sectors to cooperate comprehensively in all fields, expand new cooperation mechanisms in accordance with the interests and practical conditions of each side; comprehensively and effectively implement the contents of the Minutes of the Annual Conference between the Provincial Party Committee Secretaries, focusing on bringing the established mechanisms into depth, bringing about practical results.

The Secretary of Lai Chau Provincial Party Committee respectfully requested Mr. Vuong Ninh to direct the Yunnan provincial government to actively report to competent authorities to allow Lai Chau agricultural and medicinal products such as sugarcane, sliced cassava, bananas, macadamia nuts, cardamom, etc. to be officially exported to the Chinese market; designate Kim Thuy Ha border gate as the border gate for importing fresh fruits and vegetables from Vietnam, in order to promote customs clearance and increase trade turnover between the two sides; direct the acceleration of the construction of a multi-purpose bridge across the border between Ma Lu Thang and Kim Thuy Ha border gates.

The Secretary of Lai Chau Provincial Party Committee requested the Yunnan provincial government to coordinate with Lai Chau province to complete relevant procedures to soon organize the ceremony to announce the upgrading of the Ma Lu Thang-Kim Thuy Ha bilateral border gate to an international border gate; encourage and support agencies and enterprises of both sides to implement scientific and technical cooperation, transfer of agricultural production technology, technology for planting, caring, harvesting, preserving and processing medicinal fruit trees; cooperate in exchanging techniques for producing plant varieties, vegetables, tubers, fruits, etc.

Emphasizing that Lai Chau always welcomes enterprises from Yunnan province to invest in the fields of agriculture, industry, trade, etc. The Secretary of Lai Chau Provincial Party Committee proposed that the two sides strengthen cross-border tourism cooperation, cooperation in the field of education , especially higher education; promote coordination in disease prevention and control across the border; actively exchange and promptly and properly handle incidents arising in the border area in the spirit of cooperation, friendship, respect and strict compliance with signed legal documents on the border.

Mr. Vuong Ninh, Secretary of Yunnan Provincial Party Committee (China) congratulated Mr. Le Minh Ngan on being elected to hold the position of Secretary of Lai Chau Provincial Party Committee.

Basically agreeing with the contents proposed by Lai Chau province, Secretary of Yunnan Provincial Party Committee Vuong Ninh agreed to support Lai Chau province in the field of education, and hoped that the two sides would continue to strengthen cooperation in many potential fields such as agriculture, health, tourism and soon start the construction of a multi-purpose bridge across the border gate of Ma Lu Thang - Kim Thuy Ha./.
