80 years of VNA: Accompanying the nation and fostering Vietnam-Laos friendship.

The Director General of the Lao News Agency affirmed that VNA is a reliable strategic source of information for the region, and also a bridge connecting the great friendship and special solidarity between the Vietnamese and Lao peoples.

The Vietnam News Agency (VNA) has affirmed its firm position as a pioneering national news agency and a reliable strategic source of information for the region and internationally.

This was the statement made by the Director General of the Lao News Agency (KPL), Vannasin Simmavong, in an interview with a Vietnam News Agency (VNA) reporter in Vientiane on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of VNA's founding (September 15, 1945 - September 15, 2025).

According to the Director General of KPL, over the past 80 years, VNA has affirmed its solid position as a leading and authoritative news agency on the ideological and political front, accompanying the revolutionary cause of Vietnam.

From the early, difficult days, the team of reporters and journalists of VNA (Vietnam News Agency) has been present on all fronts, steadfastly reporting and filming to promptly convey the pulse of the nation.

Today, VNA is not only a faithful "reporter" of the nation's history, but also a reliable strategic information source, highly valued by friends in the region and the world .

Mr. Vannasin Simmavong affirmed that throughout its development, VNA has excellently fulfilled its mission of providing accurate, clear, timely, and continuous information, contributing to the dissemination of the Party's guidelines, policies, and the State's laws, while simultaneously promoting socio -economic development and enhancing Vietnam's image and prestige in the international arena.

For international journalists, VNA's news reports, images, and videos are always an important source of information, highly valued for their reliability.

Mr. Vannasin Simmavong emphasized that VNA and KPL have a close and long-standing cooperative relationship, reflecting the great friendship, special relationship, and comprehensive cooperation between the two Parties, two States, and the people of the two countries.

Currently, KPL uses hundreds of news articles, photos, and videos provided by VNA (Vietnam News Agency) every month. VNA's resources have significantly improved the quality of KPL's content and images, while also demonstrating the close relationship and mutual support between the two national news agencies.

Established in 1961 at the initiative of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), OANA is a forum for cooperation among major news agencies in the region to promote the exchange of information and experience.

Over the years, VNA has actively participated and made significant contributions to promoting journalistic cooperation, bridging the media gap, and enhancing mutual understanding between countries.

With its growing prestige and standing, VNA has been elected to the OANA Executive Board several times, including for the 2025-2028 term. This is clear evidence of the trust that international friends place in Vietnam's national news agency.
