Thu Trang was the third choice for the lead female role.

Actress and director Thu Trang revealed that there were two different options for the lead female role in "Who Loves Whom," but ultimately, due to unforeseen circumstances, she was the one who took on the role.

All members of the film crew, including actress and director Thu Trang, actor and producer Tien Luat, Tram Anh, Vo Dien Gia Huy, Meritorious Artist Ngoc Hiep, Ngoc Thuan, Truong Minh Thao, Kha Nhu, etc., were present to interact with the media.

At the event, Thu Trang frankly shared that she initially had no intention of taking on the role of Mến. She had two other options for the role, and she was only the third choice.

Due to the psychologically demanding nature of the role, coupled with the already stressful responsibilities of directing, she didn't want to divert her energy. However, because the other actors had conflicting schedules, she accepted the challenge and had to prepare much more thoroughly, allocating her energy appropriately to both perform well in the role and focus on directing.

"Who Loves Whom " is the second film project in which Thu Trang takes on the role of director, following the film "Billion Dollar Kiss" which was released during the Tet holiday in 2025.

The film was shot in various locations in the Mekong Delta provinces. However, Thu Trang asserts that she only borrowed the Mekong Delta setting as a storytelling backdrop, while the core remains the family story – a universal theme that transcends regions and can resonate with viewers nationwide.

At the event, the reappearance of actors Ngoc Hiep and Ngoc Thuan also received much attention.

After nearly 20 years away from the big screen following "Male Dancer ," Ngoc Thuan revealed that during the casting process, he was certain he would be rejected, even though he really liked the role after reading the script. However, he was ultimately chosen. The actor admitted that the role had a completely different psychological dimension compared to anything he had portrayed before.

Meanwhile, Meritorious Artist Ngoc Hiep also admitted that she accepted the role because she found the script very appealing when she read it.

"Who Loves Whom" also marks the return of the couple from "Battle in the Air" : Vo Dien Gia Huy and Tram Anh. From being adversaries, this time they transform into a couple in love.

Those who love it will have special screenings from December 31st before its official release on January 1st, 2026.
