The meteorological agency has issued a special warning about the risk of heavy rainfall, with precipitation potentially exceeding 100mm in just 3 hours, posing numerous natural disaster risks such as flash floods, landslides, and flooding in low-lying areas and urban centers.
On the afternoon and evening of June 4th, the Central Highlands and Southern Vietnam experienced scattered showers and thunderstorms, with rainfall ranging from 10-30mm, and some areas receiving over 50mm.
During thunderstorms, there is a possibility of extreme weather phenomena such as tornadoes, lightning, hail, and strong gusts of wind.
Before the heavy rains, on June 4th, the midland and lowland areas of Northern Vietnam experienced hot and sunny weather, with some places experiencing intense heat and maximum temperatures generally ranging from 35-36°C, and exceeding 37°C in some areas.
The area from Thanh Hoa to Quang Tri remains the epicenter of this prolonged heatwave. Daily maximum temperatures range from 37-39°C, exceeding 39°C in some places, with intense, and even exceptionally intense, sunshine. Humidity in these areas is low, only around 45-50%, further intensifying the feeling of stuffiness, dryness, and suffocation.
