On social media platform X, user Rubik revealed: "I've figured out how to download the official versions of paid apps for my Mac for free without paying hundreds of dollars. I went to the Apple Store with my Mac and transferred the app files from the display unit via AirDrop."
Not only Rubik, David Jiang also recounted: "Today, I went to the 5th Avenue Apple Store and 'airdropped' the entire Apple Pro Apps suite. Basically, I stole $600 worth of software from the Apple Store."

On Reddit, many people also reported successfully "stealing" licensed software without being stopped by Apple. Some said that employees saw what they were doing but said nothing or turned a blind eye.
"I tried using my iPhone to transfer all my Final Cut, Logic Pro, Compressors, and Motion files to my Mac at home. Everything worked. But don't update the software," wrote a Reddit user named mMacOS.
According to Zinc, a software developer on Reddit, Apple's applications are stored in .app repositories. In most cases, all related files and libraries are stored in this repository. Simply transferring that .app file from one computer to another will allow you to "install" the application on the new computer.
Some argue that this kind of software piracy should not be encouraged and that Apple will soon find ways to stop it. However, the American company has not taken any action, even though threads with this content have appeared on Reddit for the past five months.
According to iMore , the practice of stealing copyrighted software files from the Apple Store has actually been documented since 2017, but Apple hasn't intervened. The .app files also lack verification processes and aren't linked to Apple IDs, so they can only be detected through updates.
