On March 24 (February 3, Giap Thin year), Tay Thien Xuan Giap Thin Festival 15 opened at Tay Thien Scenic Area, organized by the People's Committee of Tam Dao district, Vinh Phuc province.
Tay Thien Festival is held from February 15-17 of the lunar calendar every year to commemorate and pay tribute to the great merits of National Mother Lang Thi Tieu, the Queen Consort of the 2th King Hung Chieu - who had great merits. in helping King Hung expand his territory, teach people to grow wet rice, recruit soldiers, and strengthen the dynasty. The festival is held with ceremonies including: announcement ceremony, palanquin procession, opening ceremony, incense offering ceremony and thanksgiving ceremony.
This year's festival takes place with many diverse activities such as: Van singing festival, adoration singing associated with practicing the belief of worshiping Mother Goddess Tay Thien; Cultural and artistic performances, performances, re-enactment of some customs and practices of the San Diu ethnic people and performance of Soong Co folk songs; The Trade and Tourism Fair displays OCOP products and typical cuisine of ethnic minorities in the province...
Besides, the festival will take place many sports activities such as: National Traditional Wrestling Tournament; Tay Thien Cup national golf tournament; air volleyball, tug of war, chess tournaments of communes and towns of Tam Dao district...
Because it is held on a weekend, this year's Tay Thien Festival attracts a large number of tourists to pilgrimage and worship. To ensure security and order, the Festival Organizing Committee has coordinated with the Police force to establish a working group, organize patrol forces, prevent and destroy social evils; prevent fraudulent, disruptive, and superstitious acts; Fire and explosion prevention at monuments and festival areas. At the same time, the Festival Organizing Committee promoted propaganda work, reminding to raise awareness of small businesses trading in the scenic area, not to carry out acts of soliciting and forcing prices on tourists.
Tay Thien is an ancient architectural complex with pagodas, temples, shrines, stone stele... bearing the mark of history and culture. The great scenic spot Tay Thien with high mountains, deep forests, charming streams and waterfalls is also the largest and earliest Buddhist center in Vietnam.
In 2015, Tay Thien historical and scenic site was recognized as a special National Monument. In 2020, Tay Thien Mother Goddess worship was recognized as a National Intangible Cultural Heritage.
