Toll collection officially begins on the Phan Thiet - Dau Giay expressway.

(Dong Nai) - At exactly 10 PM on March 2nd, at the interchanges on the Phan Thiet - Dau Giay expressway, the electronic toll collection (ETC) system simultaneously switched to begin collecting tolls from vehicles traveling on this expressway.

Previously, Road Management Area IV conducted a technical review and inspection, and tested the entire ETC toll collection system on this expressway. During the initial period of official toll collection, at the central control room, vehicle data including license plates, distance traveled, and toll rates were continuously updated on the system. Technicians were stationed at monitoring screens, tracking signals from license plate recognition cameras, sensors, and transaction processing software.

Operational control was tight; the ETC lanes operated smoothly, the barriers raised and lowered smoothly, and traffic flowed continuously, with no prolonged waiting times recorded in the first hour. At the toll stations, functional forces were also on duty to assist vehicles, basic equipment operated stably, and any issues that arose were handled promptly by staff, preventing traffic congestion.

According to the organizational plan, toll collection on the Phan Thiet - Dau Giay expressway will be based on a closed toll system (charging based on the actual distance from the entry point to the exit point). The toll stations are located at interchanges along the route, each with separate entry and exit lanes, directly connected to the ETC data center.

To facilitate toll collection, toll stations are located at the intersections of National Highway 55 (Km27+400), Provincial Road 720 (Km37+800), National Highway 1, Provincial Road 765, National Highway 56, and Ba Bau on the Phan Thiet - Dau Giay expressway. Using a closed toll collection model, vehicles pay tolls based on the actual distance traveled.

According to the approved toll schedule, the Phan Thiet - Dau Giay expressway applies the lowest toll rate of 1,300 VND/km. Vehicles with fewer than 12 seats, trucks under 2 tons, and public buses traveling the entire route pay 128,700 VND/trip; heavy trucks and 40-foot or larger containers pay 518,800 VND/trip.

The Phan Thiet - Dau Giay expressway has a total length of approximately 99km, of which the section passing through Dong Nai province is over 51km long.
