On the morning of March 26, the People's Committee of Son Tra District ( Da Nang City) announced that it had agreed to cease operations of the Son Tra night market (An Hai Tay Ward) from July 1, 2024, and notified relevant individuals and organizations to implement the decision.
Previously, since 2018, DHTC Multi-Purpose Joint Stock Company had a contract with the Economic Department of the Son Tra District People's Committee regarding the organization, management, and operation of the night market for 5 years (including any extensions due to the Covid-19 pandemic).

The reason for the closure of Son Tra night market from July 1, 2024, is the expiration of the contract and the completion of the first phase of the night market's pilot operation.
According to the People's Committee of Son Tra District, within 10 days from July 1, 2024, DHTC Multi-Purpose Joint Stock Company must remove all assets, materials, and equipment, and return the sidewalks and roads of Mai Hac De and Ly Nam De (where the night market is currently being held).
Mr. Huynh Van Hung, Vice Chairman of the Son Tra District People's Committee, stated that the company is responsible for working with all traders at the Son Tra night market regarding the termination of phase 1 of the night market's operations at the old location. He emphasized the need to definitively resolve all related rights and obligations, ensuring a fair and harmonious balance of interests for all parties involved.
The District People's Committee will conduct a comprehensive review and assessment of the Son Tra night market's operations, report to the Da Nang City People's Committee, and propose a plan for implementing phase 2.
It is expected that phase 2 of the Son Tra night market will be relocated to a nearby area to ensure a stable location that is suitable for managing security, traffic safety, and environmental hygiene.
For investors, the People's Committee of Son Tra District will organize a public and transparent auction to find a capable, financially strong, experienced unit with a scientific , systematic, and civilized organizational plan, aiming to bring the highest efficiency to the Son Tra night market in phase 2.
As Thanh Nien newspaper reported, Son Tra night market is like a tourist market, with about 300 vendors and stalls, the most distinctive of which is the food, especially seafood and Quang Nam specialties that are popular with tourists.
